PG search: Alexander/Williams

No doubt having more ball handlers at other positions will be good for the offense, but it doesn't solve the problem at PG.

I would agree that if the staff can't find someone good enough to play and help us next season, it would be better to bank the ride. However, if they come out of yet another spring having been unable to sell any kind of a legitimate guard on the oportunity to play right away at Iowa, it will be a further demonstration of their present shortcomings as recruiters. There are guards ALL OVER AMERICA who could help this team significantly. Surely they can find ONE this Spring who's willing to give it a try at Iowa.

Completey agree Freddy. I know that player transfers have hurt the progress more than anything but transfers plus the staffs inability to not anticipate the transfers and find suitable replacements is what is really killing them. From quotes in the papers recently it looks like that will be a continued problem.

Lickliter Scouts Kirkwood B-Ball | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Sports

"Cedar Rapids-When Kirkwood hosted Iowa Central Wednesday night, Iowa coach Todd Lickliter and assistant Lavall Jordan were sitting in the upper deck. Presumably they were there to watch Kaylon Williams of Kirkwood and Kurt Alexander of Central. Both are guards.
Williams had 15 points and 12 assists. Alexander poured in 19 points for the Tritons. Kirkwood won the game 75-58."

I think Williams would round this recruiting class out real nice from an athletic standpoint. I think he can penetrate and score or dish at the next level and I know he can light it up from deep. I have no informed opinion on him as an individual so I'm not sure how his personality would fit the system.

I wish I could have gone last night to see both players head to head.

Heard some reports that KW had the edge over Alexander tonite. Noticeably taller,by at least 3 inches...KW controlled the game well, and Alexander did much of his damage in garbage time. Alexander evidently had the edge in their first meeting,so maybe it is a draw, but physically, KW has more of a Big Ten body.

Yeah KW certainly looks to be more B10 ready. I would really love this class if Iowa felt good enough about KW to make the offer and land him. That would give us two solid experienced pg's next year with one filling more of the playmaker role.
