Past NBA stars in today's game.

I went to a Bulls-Pacers game the year the Bulls won 72 games or whatever. Those teams fought like hell every time down the court. I would not pay money to go to a Bulls game today - I only go if I get a free ticket. They just half a** it the first 44 minutes and then the last four minutes or so, they actually play. I went to one Lakers-Bulls game where Kobe just walked down and tossed up about 15 shots in a row over Hinrich and had like 22 points in the first quarter. The Bulls just quit. There is absolutely no entertainment value to NBA anymore.

I went to the bulls-hornets game that year. Only home loss they had and my only game I went to.

Can anyone do this today? And this was before they had those flimsy rims like they do today that go up and down.

The flimsy rims are now used to prevent what you see above.

....jordan never would have left to team up with a dwade....he wanted to be the best on the own
I've seen this argument several times and I'm not sure I completely buy into it. I seem to recall that Jordan was starting to show some signs of dissatisfaction before Pippen and Grant came along.

Who knows, if the Bulls had made poor personnel decisions like Cleveland did, instead of picking up Grant and Pippen, then maybe Jordan might have went elsewhere like LeBron did.

One thing this thread has proven beyond any doubt: very few here on Hawkeyenation know much about the NBA today.

Broken-Backboard.jpg

Gotta love the backboards shattering. Shaq says that Darryl Dawkins was the Father of Power Dunkers, and that he is his son.....

I remember watching Shaq breaking the backboard and twisting the supports out of shape at Phoenix. Dearly loved the moment, almost as much as the Phoenix fan running out on the floor to attack the ref during a playoff game with the Celtics.....

It's all Good.....

:D

Wow, now that is a blast-from-the-past name (aka Skywalker). Had he not gotten into drugs and gotten hurt he would have been remembered as one of the greatest players ever.
They said that Skywalker could pick up a quarter off the top of the backboard and leave change.....

:D

Exactly the Bulls were a 50 win team without Jordan, the Cavs were a 20 win team without LeBron, there was a huge talent difference in the supporting cast.

Jordan wanted to beat the best not play with the best. You never seen him trying to team up with Isaiah Thomas, Magic, Bird, or any of the other greatest players of his era.

Bingo! People act like Jordan did it all by himself. Please. Scottie Pippen was way underrated. And

I'd love to see somebody compile a list of LeBron's supporting casts (sans last season) vs. Jordan's, Kobe's, etc. And please don't equate this to me comparing LeBron to Jordan because it's not even close. LeBron had no help in Cleveland though. I think last year was a fluke and that the Heat will be taking it this year.

Anywho, back to topic- I think any of the superstars from back in the day would do just find nowadays, especially Jordan and Malone, who was far from soft. I think Bird would do just fine too, he would still be out-smarting people.

Oh, but he did team up with this guy named Scottie Pippen. Ya know, named one of the greatest 50 NBA players of all-time. Ever heard of him?

I hate this argument by the way. Was LeBron supposed to stay in Cleveland? Because he had A LOT of help there. Who was his best supporting player? An aged Antwan Jamison? A way out of his prime Shaq?

As a matter of fact I have heard of Scottie Pippen, they traded for him on draft day in 1987. There was no "team"ing up as you put it.

Oh Jeebus, such an old, stupid argument. Get over it already. What did you want LeBron to do? What move would have saved him from criticism? Honest question, I'd love to hear your response. Staying in Cleveland? What if he would've went to the Bulls? People would still be saying the same, dumb thing.

I've always thought it was laughable when Magic makes the argument that he never would have left to join another superstar. Well when you're drafted to a team with Kareem and then are joined by guys like Cooper, Worthy, Thompson and Scott you don't have any reason to leave.
