Kobe's quit before. LA-Phx First Round Game 7, 2006. Bryant scored only one point and took just three shots in the second half.

He also gave up in Game 7 of the NBA finals against the Celtics.

I went to a Bulls-Pacers game the year the Bulls won 72 games or whatever. Those teams fought like hell every time down the court. I would not pay money to go to a Bulls game today - I only go if I get a free ticket. They just half a** it the first 44 minutes and then the last four minutes or so, they actually play. I went to one Lakers-Bulls game where Kobe just walked down and tossed up about 15 shots in a row over Hinrich and had like 22 points in the first quarter. The Bulls just quit. There is absolutely no entertainment value to NBA anymore.
The flimsy rims are now used to prevent what you see above. Can anyone do this today? And this was before they had those flimsy rims like they do today that go up and down.

I've seen this argument several times and I'm not sure I completely buy into it. I seem to recall that Jordan was starting to show some signs of dissatisfaction before Pippen and Grant came along.....jordan never would have left to team up with a dwade....he wanted to be the best on the own
And before all of them there was David Thompson.
One thing this thread has proven beyond any doubt: very few here on Hawkeyenation know much about the NBA today.
They said that Skywalker could pick up a quarter off the top of the backboard and leave change.....Wow, now that is a blast-from-the-past name (aka Skywalker). Had he not gotten into drugs and gotten hurt he would have been remembered as one of the greatest players ever.

Who knows, if the Bulls had made poor personnel decisions like Cleveland did, instead of picking up Grant and Pippen, then maybe Jordan might have went elsewhere like LeBron did.

Exactly the Bulls were a 50 win team without Jordan, the Cavs were a 20 win team without LeBron, there was a huge talent difference in the supporting cast.
Jordan wanted to beat the best not play with the best. You never seen him trying to team up with Isaiah Thomas, Magic, Bird, or any of the other greatest players of his era.
Oh, but he did team up with this guy named Scottie Pippen. Ya know, named one of the greatest 50 NBA players of all-time. Ever heard of him?
As a matter of fact I have heard of Scottie Pippen, they traded for him on draft day in 1987. There was no "team"ing up as you put it.
