Oregon 6.5 point favorite

I agree with everything you say in this post except putting Matt Rhule on that list. He has been a good hire and scraped Nebbie off the floor and made them semi-respectable. Hell, they were ranked two weeks ago. Frankly, I was hoping PSU would poach him so Nebbie would have to start over again with someone less competent. Putting him in with Frost and Fickell is not a fair statement.
I don't get why people somehow think Rhule has proven he is an upgrade yet. The last three coaches all came in with solid backgrounds and have mostly spun their wheels.

Mike Riley's Big Ten records:
3-5
6-3
3-6

Scott Frost's Big Ten records:
3-6
3-6
3-5
1-8

Matt Rhule's Big Ten records:
3-6
3-6
3-3 (and I'd argue headed to 4-5)

Dannen had no reason to extend him.

Stats a skewed a bit by just looking at conference record. Look at it this way:

Riley got them to a bowl in his second season and then got fired after his third season. The firing was a bit of a quick trigger, but anyone could see Riley was going in the wrong direction. Then Frost failed to get them to a bowl for four years. Rhule struggled his first season, but got them to a bowl and won it last year. For a program that had grown into one of the biggest laughingstocks in all of college football, making a bowl after a 6-year drought is very much an improvement. This year, he got Nebbie to the point of being ranked and its dumb, mouthbreathing fans believing they could make the CFP. They appeared to be well on their way to improving the record from last year. They will at least make a bowl again.

Now, I agree that Dannen did not need to extend him. And honestly, all the contract really did of any consequence was double his buyout, but Rhule's agent did his job and texted Dannen every article he could find saying that PSU wanted him. That is how the game is played. Now, Karma has bit them in the ass a bit with the Riola injury. Oops.

BTW, they could lose out and go 6-6. Ehh. Riola has not improved much at all in two years after being the #1 overall recruit in his class. Does he look to find a better QB whisperer or just for a better program that is loaded and needs a plug and play QB? Its no secret Holgerson wants a HC job and would take about any offer at this point. Nebbie has one of the toughest schedules in the nation next year. It is not inconcievable they get worse next year. Then what?

The currently rotting in hell ghost of Larry Phillips will haunt them till the end of time and I'm here for it.

Remember the preacher from poltergeist? It's no coincidence that he looks like Tom Osborne's twin brother. That dude sold his soul to the devil long before he ever won a national championship. Hid guns for players in his office. Scott Frost hid in the closet while Phillips beat up his girlfriend. That program and fanbase is a rotten cesspool of filth. It's finally gotten what it's deserved all this time. And I hope Osborne dies watching his huskers getting beat by Purdue to go winless in the B1G someday.

Your mindset is EXACTLY what got nebraska and Wisconsin into their situations.

Like carbon copy, verbatim the same. And what's funny is if Iowa fired Kurt and ended up with a Frost/Fickell/Rhule/etc. and tanked, you'd be the first one out there pissed off about it saying, "Fire this guy! Do it again! There's no way Iowa should have to settle for losing!" And then the next guy and the next guy. You're so nebraska it ain't even funny. Talk about someone who can't see the forest for the trees.

Hell, you can't even see the tree for the leaf.

Could making a change lead to a less successful sports program? Yes. However what kind of courage does it take to just SETTLE?

If you were in a line of people talking like you are and Hayden Fry heard the crap you are talking he would punch you in the face. He even said that. He said he had no toleration for players or fans who think that way and he would like to punch them in the face if he heard them talk like that.

I got to watch the Bears, Cub's and Bull's do it. I am happy with just that once with the Cub's and Bear's. It was worth the wait despite all the patience and suffering and heart breaking losses. Then there's MJ who made it happen several times. I would have been happy with just one.

Coach Dan Gable knows damn well what I am talking about. If we hadn't hire him and just another Joe Blow wrestling coach with that attitude you have, we would never had seen all those championship's under Gable's coaching.

Ummmmmm 2004? Are you serious??? Twenty-one years without a conference title? I don't need to hear your comment about "well if you don't like it go follow Alabama or some other elite school." We are not talking about being an Alabama, but you would think that twenty-one years is more than enough evidence in showing tolerance and patience. I am at a point of just being happy with and accepting getting to the expanded playoff system. You have zero chance of winning the Kentucky Derby if you don't have a horse in the race. However it is fun to just have a horse in the race.

I have thrown a 32 team playoff out there because that's probably what will be necessary for Kirk to ever get one of his teams in the playoffs.

If you think it is wrong for a fan to ask for just one CHANCE at being invited to a playoff platform in the last twenty-one years I don't want to know what drugs that you took that fried your brain. ONE is not being unreasonable, BUT your NONE is totally unreasonable and should NEVER be acceptable to anyone.............well except you and fan's who just want to look at vines on a brick wall.

You're the Wrigley field fan who goes to have a hot dog and coke and talks about how beautiful the vines on the outfield wall are and then walks away after the game from Wrigley Field not even knowing or caring what the score was or who won. You're killing me Holmes.

One other thing I was a Hawkeye fan before Kirk ever had an interest in being or knowing anything Hawkeye........... so shut the F*ck up!!!!
