Oliver Martin Transfer

Well that seems a bit harsh. I thought players would be of opinion kids do what is best for them and their family. Should be allowed to change his mind if both sides (MIch and him) agree. I could see KF saying the ship sailed and no room but not being harsh about it.

Martin transferring is about the least surprising news ever. You need to be great to crack the 2 deeps at WR for Michigan. And about 3/4 highly ranked WRs came in the same class as him and at Michigan there is always more talented prospects on the way.

I said 2 years ago that I'd rather have Smith & ISM than Martin. I still feel that way. If he comes here he's not going to play over those two guys anyway and he'll be behind Tracy and Nico as well.

I don’t necessarily agree with drake here, but I can see his point. He was a walk-on from muscatine who worked his ass off to be a program guy and to get a chance to contribute consistently. Seeing an elite recruit from right down the road who had the world opened to him and turned his back on the program would be hard to watch.

I just made contact with someone very close with OM who said he HAS NOT decided to transfer. This person has heard from him three times since Sunday with OM telling him he is not leaving Michigan. One of things that could be fueling the rumor is that he did not report back to Ann Arbor on Wednesday. He did contact Harbaugh and the staff to tell them he would be delayed, from what this person told me.

From what I'm told, OM will graduate next spring. He can stay at Michigan this year and if things don't go the way he wants, he can leave then and have two years to play without sitting out.

Now, things can change. And maybe he is considering a transfer. But that's how things stand now from what I'm told.

You guys bring up very good points.
At first I was like, let him come home if he wants. But now, I'm like, well if he wants to walk on. I can't see wasting a scholarship in this situation.

That would make a lot of sense sticking it out one more year there then. No sitting out in that scenario.

BTW, I have messaged OM and his father and haven't heard back. That's not unusual, as they are pretty private. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Yes...agree with every moronic post that we don't want him. We are currently stacked with proven playmakers at WR. He would be a welcome addition. I hope we get him back.

Hey...people make mistakes...and Harbaugh is a snake oil salesman and very manipulative. He probably wanted Martin because Iowa beat them on the field and for no other reason.

Let the young man be accepted with open arms is my opinion. You people act like he's Steve Alford or something. Hell, I'd take him back now because we happen to play Michigan in the Big House...he may know something that can help us.

Hmm.... not holding breath on this after what Rob just said. I did think from the beginning of Martin going there that if he wasnt good enough to crack their lineup almost right away that hed get recruited over and hed have a tough time playing much. That's just how going to a school like that is.
Look at Tate Martel.. The qb position is obviously exasperated by there only is one on the field at a time usually. But ole Martin is finding out just how less green the grass can be...

So what did he do or say when he was at IC West that would have mad Kirk angry?
He told Kirk he was going to conceive an alternative lifestyle child with DJK...and that child would grow to be the The Stallion Who Mounts the World. Kirk's response:

In my experiences, OM is a good person from a good family. He never bad-mouthed Iowa and chose the program he felt was the best fit for him.

Maybe he would have picked the Hawks had they offered earlier. Maybe not. Bobby Kennedy wanted to wait on offering and the staff here had scouted him more than any other. Then his stock rose in the spring and summer before his senior year and Iowa jumped in with everybody else.

Drake Kulik was a walk-on with zero offers who had no option but to go to Iowa. He is not in a position to judge someone who had a choice between any of the best schools in the nation and chose the school that produces more NFL players at his position than any other.
