O'Keefe's future if we win out

Unbelievably dumb post. You don’t stay with someone for fear the next guy might not be better. That’s simply a losing mentality and is an indictment on the hiring party. Yet another mark on the ferentz era

KOK was the whipping boy because posters didn't have the nuts to say what the real problem was/is. You really think KOK doesn't know how to manage a clock? You really think he believes you should take a knee with 75 seconds left in the first half? You really think he thought JC was better than Stanzi or McCann was better than Banks? You really think KOK was the reason we struggled when the opponent had 4th and long and made a first down on multiple occasions? You really think KOK would sit Fant just because of high school politics? You really think he thought playing for overtime was the right strategy? You really think he didn't understand the correct time to use punt-safe? You really believe he thinks punting at your opponents 32 yard line makes sense? BTW, none of this is to suggest KOK was an innovator. He wasn't. JHF was an innovator, from having the first black starter in his conference to "periscope" tight ends Hayden scratched where it itches and understood the emotional side of the game. He understood strategy and rivalries. His protege has one tool in the tool box - execute near 100% or lose. That puts 100% of the burden (blame) on the players when it doesn't work. But they only get 50% of the credit when it does work. Never was there a more shrewd businessman within the Iowa coaching ranks than the current dean of college football coaches.

Who does this sound like to you?

Faced with a fourth-and-goal situation of his own, Tressel opted for a field goal to give Ohio State a 10-7 lead. Then, late in the game, protecting a five-point lead, he elected to punt to USC rather than attempt a field goal that would have put his team up by eight.

Tressel’s punt led to USC’s winning, 86-yard drive. “When it works, you were right,” he lamented. “And when it doesn’t, you weren’t.”

side note, threads without a cousinbreeder are the best . . . so few and far between

Bumping just to remind everyone that 15 years ago our biggest concern was what happen if we lost O'Keefe. Such a stark contrast to today where we don't have an OC.

How do you even remember that these old threads exist? Then you're able to find them and bump them... You're into some dark voo-doo aren't you?
