I don't like this at all, and dont see why Iowa should schedule games against Pacific time zone teams that may have to be played at this time..dont schedule teams in the desert.

They should have easily known that playing a home-home series with Arizona would have called for a night game, simply because of the heat, especially in AZ in September. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

That's 7:30 p.m. Arizona time, not 7:30 a.m. Arizona time, right? :)

I agree about not scheduling Pacific time zone teams. Let the Big 12 do that with their wacky Pac 10 scheduling merger. The furthest west we should go is Lincoln, NE.

Iowa knows when we schedule Arizona that its going to be a 7pm local kickoff. They are in the desert, they do not play day games in September in Arizona. Why is this a surprise to people? I like it, love the night games. Wisconsin has won down there and at UNLV playing very late at night, we can too. By the way, what is the tv for this game?

I agree..and they should not schedule these again...i wrote that after the ASU debacle back in 2004.

Now, that was Tate's first road start...Stanzi is a vet, and this team went through a road gauntlet last year so it won't be their first rodeo...but starting a game when your body says its 9:30pm and waiting around all day, not a good thing.

Jon, curious why you don't like this? I could see for your call in show where that would pose a problem, but from a fan's perspective I love this. We rarely get to watch the Hawks play a late, late night game and I think that's pretty cool. Plus the game will be on ESPN, which is always good exposure.

Take the team out on there on Wednesday. Practice Thursday night at 9:00 PM. Keep em at pratice till midnight. Send em to bed good and tired and let em sleep in till 11:00 am.

Recoup on Friday. Practice at 8:00 PM. Let em sleep in as long as they want on Saturday. At the latest go out Thursday. Just don't wait until Friday unless you want to get your butt kicked.

Have you ever traveled to the West Coast? You end up waking on your own at like 4am and want to be in bed by 8:30 the first few nights.

Hey Jon, if were ever going to be a team to be reckoned with we will win games like these at any time of the day. Excuses like yours are for losers. Its not like you go to the game anyway. Quit being a pansy.

Remember Jon these are 18 to 22 year old young adults, their night is just getting started at 9:30 pm anyway, it will be tougher for people like us (mid 30's and older with families) to wait around all day and not feel tired at 9:30 pm.

KF will adjust practice to accomodate this game. I am not worried about this one, but the following week trying to get on track again.

Nothing to do with call in show.

I am looking at this from a 'best chance for Iowa to win' scenario, and playing a team in their own time zone and body clock when your body clock says its 9:30, let's go play a football game now, that is going to make the teams closer to even.

I am not saying it will make them even, but it's an advantage of some degree for Arizona. Whether or not that makes the difference for them, who knows.

I think that college kid's bodies are just starting to tell them to get going at 9:00 pm :) They ought to be rarin' to go!

Part of the problem in 2004, was the game was delayed like 90 minutes because of rain so that really threw a monkey wrench into the pre-game prep, etc

All I know is that I recall Kirk talking about how much he hated playing west coast night games...and I bet this will be the last one that he plays as the schedule for the future is now in his hands and has been since he took over.
