**OFFICIAL CUBS REGULAR SEASON THREAD**

Thought he was going to have to take a break between 2nd and 3rd. Beautiful slide at home, though he still messed up the chalk./

The Iowa Cubs players think they have a better squad then the Chi Cubs. That's sad when the AAA squad is talking smack about the roster their looking up at. This was all stated in a Des Moines Register article on Thursday, no joke.

Worst cubs team, on paper, that I've seen in years.

Marmol's trade value was at an all time high just recently (start of last years? 2 years ago?). Now, you would have to pay to get rid of him.
Unbelievable.

Can they get to 10 wins? Oh man!!

Lol. It's two games into the season. Everyone knew this was going to be a long season. The bullpen has sucked, but the team hasn't looked completely inept. Personally, I'm not overly concerned with wins. I am hoping to see improvement throughout the season so we know we are moving in the right direction.

Best case scenario is that the Cubs can get really solid returns on a fire sale in June and July. This team just won't compete this year. Starting pitching is good; a couple hitters are good; but not much else is worth while. On the bright side, I have Marmol on my fantasy team. . .

I think Wood will get it figured out, he didn't get much work in during the spring, so hopefully he will come around. Marmol, I haven't got a clue, he may need a change of scenery, don't know where his stuff has gone.

However, on a positive note over 13 and 2/3 inning the starting pitching has given up 2 runs and left the game in the lead. Other than 2 relievers, one of which I'm confident will get it figured out, they have looked ok as a team, no real offense to speak of but it can come around a little bit. I think the cubs can win 70.

If wood and marmol were themselves and the cubs were 2-0 people would be thrilled with this team's performance.

Remember what everybody was saying about Iowa after the Campbell fiasco..The Cubs won't make postseason, but I am looking forward to seeing some of their prospects later this year. In 2 years they should be back in the hunt for the division. When that happens, let the good times roll because they should be in a position to compete on a yearly basis. It's just going to be painful to watch until then.

lol fire sale? what would they sell?

How long before big Z has a breakdown with the Marlins? Already given up a run, 2 runners on base with no outs in the 1st. Glad the Cubs finally got rid of him.

3 run lead heading into the 9th. Castro with a stupid error that continued the inning. Now it's a one run lead with Werth coming up and Marmol coming in. Wow.
