OFFICIAL 2019 CHICAGO CUBS THREAD!!!!

Critical road trip coming up. San Francisco, Milwaukee, St. Louis. They could really separate themselves from some teams if they can come through with their best trip of the year!

Milwaukee has struggled for three weeks. I hope we don't catch them hot when we play them. I hate seeing that little chipmunk Counsell when his moves work and he steals games. He reminds me of Pat Fitzgerald.

Stay healthy in the rotation when Hammel's comes back we are in good shape I think, one reason being is we play less over .500 teams than the Brewers or Cards. These Pesky Reds scare me more than the Cards though.

At what point is this a shitty roster....? I wouldn’t be upset if Strop is DFAd or would need Tommy John surgery

The Cubs have the lamest bull pen in the league. Somebody needs to go!
I thought Maddon pulled the plug on Hendricks at least one inning too early. After all he was pitching a shutout and he was just given a lead.

On the flip side, two pitchers with shoulder issues were out there last night. One got out safely, the other stayed in one inning too long and tweaked his shoulder. Man am I glad I'm not a major league manager.

All of this is moot if we can't figure out how to hit Hader. Step one is to lay off the high fastball. I don't care if he did pitch two innings on Wednesday. Counsell will run him out there all three games this series if necessary, even if it is only for one batter. He always seems to manage with urgency against the Cubs and his moves always seem to work.

If they are hurt they have absolutely no business being put on the mound. This isn't on Joe it's on Theo! It was pretty disgusting watching the Cubs being baited by the high fastball. Pros? Slow learners.

I posted two weeks ago that this would be a critical road trip. Now it has all the earmarks of the disastrous season opening trip. Maddon is going to have to ride these starters. Having his defense positioned properly wouldn't hurt either. I know the home runs were killers but where was Rizzo when the double snuck down the line? Aren't first and third basemen supposed to be guarding the line in those situations? Milwaukee announcers were questioning that and Maddon's decision to pull Lester after seven shutout innings.

Maddon deserves some props for running Hendu out there for one more inning last night. And it wasn't an easy decision in that Kyle was due to bat in the top of the seventh and runs were scarce again last night. Maddon swallowed the out, Hendricks pitched one more inning, got though it in about seven pitches. It saved the bullpen and some stomachs. Even when Kimbrel put men on second and third it still felt like he was in control. He was throwing strike one and wiping out hitters with the breaking stuff. The double was simply a wake-up call to be careful with the fastball.

Gotta hold your nose when you watch the Cubs. Never saw a team that can't hit a baseball like this bunch. Game after game. Thought Bryant was supposed to be an elite player. Ha!

Pathetic to say the least. Thank God it took me 3 hours to hang a new light fixture. Of course, my wife was in charge. Was way better than the shit show I've been watching all season. Oh, by the way, the wifey and I will be in Wrigley Sunday for our 35th anniversary. At least the beer will be good

Happy Anniversary! You'll probably need to drink quite a few to get through the game.

Cardinals have overtaken the floundering Cubs without:

Ozuna
Molina
Carpenter
Bader
Cecil
Hicks

The Cards are playing a lot better without those guys. Carpenter is like 1-19 on his rehab assignment. Hope they get back soon so the Cards will sink back into obscurity!

Thank you kind sir. When in Wrigleyville, you just drink. I'm trying to think of the Iowa bar just down from Wrigley. We stopped there last year. It was awesome, live music
