Off week and Da Haters are out in Force

oldhawkwhatever# is so obviously not a hawk fan, but I think there are still some on here being critical with good intentions that are Iowa fans. I think there just is a fatigue with our coach and winning football games. Just like losing gets old for some fans, winning probably does to. I am all for being critical. Our AD's press release this week - gaf, what an idiot and Pollard burned him for it. It's hard to admit and that doesn't make like Pollard AT ALL, but Gary put out a vague presser and the smarter and more PR savvy guy dunked on him. I also get the clock management complaints. It's a concern. It could bite us. But it might not either. The chances are equal. So, my issue with that is....who gives a F, they won. When they lose and it's due to clock management, then I'll be upset. I can't be upset about something that didn't happen. But if you have Ferentz fatigue it really doesn't matter if they win or lose, cause in their eyes, every thing is a loss. IMO, that's the biggest loser mentality out there. Thinking you lost when you really won. Winning football games isn't easy, otherwise everyone would do it. Iowa football wins. It's nice. I am lucky as a fan that the football team I love wins. I enjoy it.
Brooo hit the enter key once that hurts my eyes

Also add in the fact Iowa was down to it's 4th string CB and it's walk on safety.
The list of obstacles overcome just keeps growing, and growing, and growing...

Walk-on safety? Seriously?? Pretty much a staple of KF's time at Iowa (Snyder & Gervase, to name a few recent examples). But now it's an obstacle.

But pointing out the logic in your posts no doubt makes me a hater.

Noted. Most people who reply to me comment on my grammar. It's horrible. I know this. I make a lot of mistakes. I can admit it. I'm kind of a dummy. I'll mix in some breaks for ya. Ya'll see right through my 2 years of junior college. I'm not making an excuse, but I post from my phone mostly and I obviously realize that I am not putting this print out for some publication so I just type how I type.

I am not embarrassed by it at all, I'd be lying if I said I cared. I'd also never have time to run around and correct people who make grammar mistakes on the internet. I at least can form complete sentences, that puts me ahead of the game around here.

Never said you were Da Hater, but it is interesting that you view yourself as one.

Eh I don't care about grammar, spelling or punctuation at all on internet message boards. It's not like it's a company wide email or something that you're sending. I'll never judge somebody here for that. We all know what people are trying to say "irregardless" of the order of letters, words and symbols they are using. Anybody attacking grammar or spelling is a juvenile. I did that shit 20 years ago.

Hell, the first thing I do when I get a new phone is immediately turn off auto-correct and auto capitalize. My phone just updated and turned that shit back on - I was pissed.

All I was saying is that the older I get, the more effort it takes to read things on a screen that aren't spaced out. Try counting how many i's there are (without using your cursor) for example: iiiiiiiiiiiiii - it takes too much effort!

It's no more or less interesting than the fact that you didn't address what I said about walk-on safeties.

But, deflection is what I expect from you.

As for whether or not I consider myself a hater? Since your definition is "those with a different opinion than mine", it wouldn't bother me to be included in that group since I frequently (but not always!) disagree with your opinion. But no, I don't consider myself one.

I've never considered you Da Hater either, so I'm not sure why you lumped yourself there. I've never been shy about criticizing coaches myself. I was calling for KF head after the 2014 season. I was constantly criticizing GDGD. I am not a fan at all of Fran. What I don't do though is let those criticisms cloud everything. I am glad I was wrong about KF. I am glad that Greg Davis managed to have one good year at Iowa (2015). I was happy that Fran made the NCAA this year, it was great!

As far as the list of obstacles that Iowa overcame vs ISU isn't growing, they were what they were. Was our starting safety (who beat out the walk on in spring and fall camp) not injured? I didn't add anything to the things our team overcame in Ames.

Fry, Tk and Gold - all good in my opinion. They all provide me with tons of laughs. They may err on the side of hater, but I honestly believe they are just contrarian by nature as people.
They haven’t disagreed with your conclusion that they are disagreeable by nature yet.

Things that make ya go, “Hmmmmm”

Fran lost a good bit of equity with me after the Ohio State incident. I mean the team is fighting for tournament seeding and now they are without their head coach for two games because he has chased an official down the tunnel and called him a cheating mf'er.

I have got to believe his next strike with his temper will be his last. Am I'm not talking about normal arguments with officials and the occasional technical foul. I'm talking about incidents that have or should have gotten him suspended, like UNI 2011, Wisconsin 2014 and Ohio State 2019.

I gotta agree with that. You only get so many of those, I would say Fran is right on that ledge. While I didn't really have an issue with what he did. He gave the official the business off the court and called the guy a cheatin motherfucker. There are worse things. I am in the minority I know this ....but I love fiery coaches that don't give AF. The more they whine, the more they shout and act like Aholes, the more I like em cause IMO, I am wired that way too. It means they care about winning and they are big ass babies when they don't. Personally, that's what I want in a coach. I want a coach that wants to win so badly that his emotions get the best of him from time to time. All that said, I don't particularly LOVE the way he talks to media a lot of times.

It's a bad look for Fran, though.

How many times do you watch them and say "wtf was that?", "what do they practice?", "they're poorly coached", etc? Especially on defense.

And then Fran goes off on a ref like 1 or 2 calls was the only problem?

Not that he's always wrong about the refs, but focus on what you can control!
