Not A Good Look for Bob Stoops, OU

You have no idea what was said "Josh Brown" and neither do I. I do know that Mixon came inside the cafe and walked to her table. Perhaps he said something that causes her to push him. Maybe not. Maybe she just decided to push him. In any case, do you think he could have restrained her or walked to call or find law enforcement offer instead of breaking bones in her face?

Fine, lock him up. I'll give ya a thousand in cash if you go affect a citizens arrest. I'd do it myself but I'm a pussy.

No, it's not OK. Yes, I'd want him suspended. (the syntax of your back-to-back YES/NO questions confused my response)

What I mean by the "if she hit him first" is this. Unprovoked male violence against women is abhorrent and unacceptable. It sickens me. I'm fortunate enough to have grown up with good role models, and a healthy respect for women. I have a daughter and I've taught her that there is no excuse for mistreatment by a man and she should walk away the second she has a sense a guy may be prone to that.

But IF a woman becomes physical and attacks a man aggressively in a way that can harm him, she forfeits a certain degree of that assumed protection She has initiated and validated a physical response. (and sometimes we see that in certain "cultural" situations). One's right to be free of violence doesn't include free reign to commit it themselves without consequence...regardless or race/age/gender/etc.

I think we agree to an extent. Unprovoked against another person is wrong, regardless of sex, race, etc.

I would agree that if a person presents a legitimate physical threat, again, regardless of sex, race, etc., the threatened should be able to defend him or herself.

In this particular case, I don't believe punching her in the face was warranted. He could have restrained her. He certainly could have avoided her and gotten away to call law enforcement.

I think he should have been kicked off the team. I think he would have been if he was a reserve long snapper.

I don't feel like the punishment fit the crime. I'm not saying he should be in jail for the rest of his life. But he should have been kicked off the team. He could find another school willing to give him another chance. And he'll likely get an NFL chance if he's worthy.

I'm not saying don't give the kid another chance. He made a mistake. One that deserved greater consequences, IMO.

I think we agree too, Rob.

From what I know..which is only a bit... his actions were unnecessarily violent. Terrible.

Then again, we have to understand and "tolerate" the cultural component. After all, a significant portion of our populous (black and white) thinks "Bitches and Hos" is perfectly fine. Can't have it both ways. Yes... heavy sarcasm, but also a dose of harsh reality.

Rob I agree with you but every school handles discipline differently. We all know if this kid was on Iowa's team what would of happened but look at the SEC and others they do things differently.Dont like it but it happens.Look at Minnesota, what a mess,no leadership.

Just saw the video on ESPN. Ugly situation. Without audio, its not clear how it got started but as a HC, you have to kick him off the team. Stoops saw the video shortly after the incident and it was very stupid not to realize this would come back to bite him.

something must have gone down between the two outside that café. She went inside and he followed her in, the rest is history.

How about we train females to behave like the dainty, angelic; innocent, weak creatures we portray them as when they get punched. Not endorsing the thug approach. But females in American society also need some self-improvement.

I'm sorry but if women want equal rights, then equal responsibilities come with that. Ya think Rob Howe is gonna shove Josh Brown and then tell Josh Brown to just walk away? As I've already stated, best approach is if both parties don't engage in unwanted touching.

Josh,you are an ass.

You're usually a pretty level headed guy Rob. Where do you read that in my post? (let me help you out...it's not there. The capitallzed "NO" at the beginning would be your first clue. NO as in I wouldn't be OK with it. Perhaps it's in the phrasing of the statements. You have back to back questions...one a "yes" one a "no" of the same concept. The first is an obvious "NO". That's what I was responding to)

Rob was being level headed in this. Your being a smart ass. I read what you said and it is what you meant.

Totally.

And what do you think would have happened here? We have a B Ball coach that at times looks pretty out of control and a donor on the sideline being a complete idiot and if anyone else would be escorted out.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I am trying to run the Ray Rice timeline through my head to gauge where that situation was when this incident occurred. With something like this you kick him off the team and if you have to walk it back later you do so.

No, you whiffed. His post had back-back-back questions of similar meaning...yet one was a "no" and one was a 'yes". Easy to mix the answers (my initial response was not to the one he thought it was).. That was pretty clear in my follow up..

Even if what you say is true (don't believe it), though Rob is big enough to defend himself, your comments toward him weren't necessary....and that is giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Y'all sound just as violent as the guy that punched the woman.

it brings up a lot of emotion for people. If the stats on violence and abuse are correct, then a sizable number of people on this board have been on both sides of the "ring" or had someone fairly close involved.
