Noah Fant Speaks About Controversy Over Brother’s Comments

Gold, if NF had 30% more passes, that doesn't just mean 30% more passes. It also means 30% more drops. Think about it. To just assume more plays equals "better" numbers is a big leap.

Bpb. if Iowa was undefeated, which isn't crazy, and he had more chances he would be a Heisman candidate, especially if Iowa was in the playoff. As entertaining as Wisky game was, one couldn't walk away thinking, Kirk!

Noah Fant is a great TE. But he is nowhere NEAR Heisman material. Drops, penalties, miscues, etc., all add up. Heisman winners don't drop passes in the open field, don't drop sure TDs, don't commit multiple stupid penalties per game. They just don't.

Just pick the highest yardage penalty.... But, betcha Saban would luv to have him.

So would every other coach. So what?

Because he is Heisman material. He gets some drops because he is fast and his area of being able to catch a ball is unbelievable. Probably one of if not the biggest ever. Your talking Vernon Davis type.Barring injury he will have a bigger nfl footprint than what KF thought about using.

That's a tough sell bro. Kirk and Brian are already using Fant as the big play threat. Given that Fant is closer to the injury prone side it could easily be irresponsible to use him much more. Being a Heisman candidate isn't actually what makes you money. I'm not sure that Fant needs the accolades to get drafted high. What is guaranteed that he needs is to be injury free.

The last non QB or RB that won the Heisman was Charles Woodson in 1997. The last TE to win it was Leon Hart in 1949. Fant would have to put up video game numbers to be in contention with the QBs and RBs putting up the crazy numbers they do nowadays.

Guys who still have the dropsies in their 3rd year rarely get Heisman consideration. Because they shouldn't.

I didn’t walk away blaming Kirk at all. Maybe 10% for not challenging a couple plays.

Every single program has families frustrated with their kids playing time. I'm sure Jones's family might be thinking he should be the starting LB. I'm sure 2 of the 3 RBs families think their kid should be getting more touches. On and on down the depth chart you go it is what it is. If coaches were to spend 10 seconds a day per kid worrying about that they'd never get anything done or make anybody happy. But because he's a potential 1st round pick it's just a more in the news sort of thing than who the backup right guard is and how their splitting reps.

It is hard for families to handle that as their kids go higher up the sports ladder the talent evens out. Most all of these D1 football players were the best on their 6th grade and junior high teams, they were one of the best on their high school team/best at their position and maybe in their conference, but at the college level they are joined by a lot of players of equal or slightly better athleticism and skill. We dont have an Adrian Peterson or Tom Brady or a Brian Urlacher that totally stands out.

Many of us have went through this as player/parent. And football is so much different than baseball and basketball where in football starters can play most every play at their position but in basketball and baseball their are lots of substitutions and baseball even the best players take a game off once in awhile as a starter.
