Noah Fant Speaks About Controversy Over Brother’s Comments

He seems like a great kid and a good fit at Iowa, he handled it exactly how a Hawkeye should, to him it seems like a non-issue - it's the fans and media that have blown it up, it appears. Thanks for sharing.

I guess I missed what exactly his brother tweeted. I will take a guess; his brother made comments about how he feels that Noah isn’t be utilized as much as he should be?? That’s just a guess.

Imagine that. Shoot first, aim second.

This wont he popular, but there was and is tension over this. Fant's family is parroting Fant's complaints about playing time. I did not think this was the case originally, but have since been privy to some insight.

The meeting that Fant references with the coaches was said to have been productive. Apparently there was an understanding established that no player strong arms playing time. The coaches want Fant to go pro and they will absolutely facilitate that. In the meantime Fant will play his part. That will include continuing to be a focal point of the passing game.

Shocking as it is not Brian has told Fant that they don't want him slogging through the trenches in the run game. They are trying to minimize his injury risk.

Fant will leave after this season, but someday will wholeheartedly thank the Iowa staff for knowing what was best for him even before he did.

His brothers didn't just bitch about playing time, though. They're running the program into the ground that's making him a high draft pick. Eff them and their big red.

His family is a bunch of shitty husker fan trash.

I agree.
But it's probably not as bad as we think.
Fant's disappointment might be mild at worst.

Fant is a good kid. Frustration is natural in high profile sports. The kid just wants to produce and get paid. It's hard to blame him or his family for their views. Same hand, hard to blame the coaches. They also have families and pay days to think about. They aren't going to jeprodize that to make sure that some draft hot potato gets 10 targets a game.

Fant did not make a big deal about his concerns with playing time. He was not a "locker room distraction". His family decided to put the tension on blast. Fant is described as a perfect teammate. I'm sure that this years team will come through this and stronger for it.

"Iowa has never had a TE as dominate and as athletic as Noah, so I understand why it’s soooo hard for you to understand...."

Granted Noah Fant is spectacularly athletic in many ways, but Iowa's had a few talented tight ends over the years. I take it that Willie Fant hasn't followed much Iowa ball over the years, and I have some doubts he currently follows it beyond what Noah is doing.

Wow... just wow.. We'll be fortunate if Noah can keep up his current attitude. That sort of shit could tear a team apart. Sounds like the meeting the Ferentz boys had with him was probably more about keeping this tweet storm crap from doing that. As opposed to telling him anything more about what his role is or how he'll be used. I think that's pretty well established.
To be safe than sorry I would have probably had him be roomates with AJE. If there's one player on this team that could have a gripe about snap count usage it's that guy.... But thanks to his Dad and just how he is he gets the big picture.... The older I get the more into focus that can be for me to see. I get how tough that can be for the younger folks and you'll have kids all over the place in regards to how they look at things. We've been so fortunate that we haven't had more drama. We have 3 RBs all sophs eligibility wise fighting for touches and snaps. Haven't heard a peep of controversy there. (there's been some debate on here about it but that'd be the case no matter what)

I hope Noah can keep his head on a level playing field. Play hard stay healthy and lets see where the chips fall as a team. These guys can have a special season yet and that's what they'll remember down the road. Not weather or he got 4 more snaps against Northern Illinois or not..

Noah has dropped a lot of balls so he needs to step up. After all he's not entitled to anything if he can't catch a pass.

Media should have asked him other questions and let this one lay.
Nope. His family is a distraction and he needs to have it brought up. Either tell your brothers to stfu or write them off at least publicly for the next two years. I can tell you if I was Willie Sr. and two of my sons acted like that in public I’d tell them to shut the F up and stop making the family look like a bunch of assholes, but if the shoe fits...

They’re worried about his draft position because the higher he goes the more money they can beg him for.

Maybe just a touch too cynical. More than likely they just care about his future like any good parent should.

The mouth running on Twitter is a silly look, but being a dumbass doesn't necessarily imply nefarious intent.

The family just isn't able to see the wiser perspective. Fant will make his draft grade at Iowa pro day and the Combine. Throw him bombs and passes in the Redzone and keep him healthy should be their only concern. His draft position won't change either direction from a few hundred more yards of receiving. However an injury could cost him tens of millions.

No but it is worthy of mockery. Noah dropped 50% of his targets this weekend from what I saw. They should just zip it and let him play.

I don't envy Noah Fant in this situation at all. He's tremendously talented, he's getting so much more exposure, coaching and opportunity at his position than he might have received anywhere else. I also understand the passion by his family but they are going about it all wrong. Its unfortunate. The university gave him his full ride, developed him physically, mentally, and he's in a MUCH better place than where he'd be in Lincoln.

Id say its a lack of social etiquette and could create more trouble for him and zero good. Everyone knows nothing is going to influence the staff, especially from a player's family or social media "threat." They take it a step too far insulting the program and its past 20 yrs. You cant come back from those things after you say them. Im sure the NFL doesnt care....but.....you don't need an elephant in the room on draft day
