NIU All American DE Sutton Smith talking tough vs. Iowa!

Glad he was able to show off those new tricks.

Next time how about keeping your mouth shut and letting your pads do the talking.

Save the brave crap for teams like Akron and Bowling Green...

...and Nebraska.

:p

I knew it. Big mouth, small player. We mauled this kid all day. His biggest impact was running 30 yards downfield to tackle Young short of the end zone. What a disappointment this kid was. All bark.

By the end of the game I wonder if some of his own teammates we're ready to maul him.

If he comes out making plays after shooting his mouth it might of got the whole team cranked up.

Don't make plays and it could have the opposite effect and deflate the team.

It's obvious who he did crank up. I haven't seen a pass rush like that from Iowa in years. Don't tell me for a minute that they didn't take what Sutton was saying to heart.

By the fourth quarter NIU was saying "No Mas".

Ya I at least expected plays from this kid. He was pretty ghost though.

“It’s not like we’re going to go into Iowa thinking, ‘Man, I hope we can keep up with them.’ That’s not our mindset. We’re coming in there to punch them right in the face, just like we did at Nebraska.”

“I’m sure all Iowa knows what my tricks are, but they’re going to have to figure out what my new tricks are,”

“People are definitely going to look out for me. They’re going to game plan for me. That’s just fine,” the Northern Illinois star defensive end said. “You can try to double-team me. You can put a tight end on me. You can do a running back shift. I’m going to play fast. And me playing fast, I’m going to try to tire out whoever I’m playing up against, because I know I can play faster than them any given second.”
beating them soundly should cause him to shut up

Macho Man followed Hogan to St. Pete? Unreal. I know he was pissed off about the Miss Elizabeth thing, but it was an accident and Macho should have never left Hogan out there by himself. Hulkster damn near died out there. If I was Hulkster, I would have considered a restraining order.
I ran into Macho man at a 7-11 in Treasure Island Fla about 20 years ago. He bought a 12 pack of natty light. My son wanted to follow him to see where he lived.lol

I sure hope that Anthony Nelson starts getting some love... Dude is a stud. AJP might be ready to wreck all kinds of havoc out there too. Especially since he won't be asked to play 80% of the snaps like Dlineman in the past had to. The amount of plays our D ends outta be able to make in the 4th quarter of games due to their energy level being up should be noticeable. NIU will have more trouble with our D ends than we will with theirs I'll go out on a limb and predict that.
Does this make me some type of a prophet?? Ha JK.

Let's face it...he made no impact at all really. Iowa had a game plan to chip him early in the game and they put a back to his side most times. After halftime, they stopped. Our tackles were doing the job. At this point, what I got out of the NIU game, is that we are much deeper on the OL than what anyone thought. Stanley had time to throw...he was just off...and a few drops that really hurt too.

He had a great season last year. He may rack up sacks this year too, but I tried to keep an eye out for him and still didn’t notice him much at all. A few decent plays by a white DE on NIU that I thought was him and then the replay showed it was #41.

He did have one “sack” where Stanley held the ball way too long though.

and that was a "team" sack...Stanley was in a collapsing pocket.

My buddy who sits right behind the visiting bench happened to catch Sutton facing the stands without his helmet on. Guy says "Haven't heard your name much today". Beautiful.

Classic! Nice.

Guy to Sutton "............and who are you again?"

Saw some photos of the game and there's a couple of the All American dog trying to push his way through the line and he looked like a jr. high school kid. Lol Very tiny.

Shutton Smith cuz he got shut down.

Lol,

Talk about egg on his face. He is a prime example of why it should be proved on the field and not through the media. All he did was get our players stoked to shut him down, and shut him down they did.
