No, you're right Fran has not used him that way very much yet but he has run off some screens.

It's just my opinion on what I would do with him. His tendency to turn the ball over is what I don't like about him dribbling allot.

Lets hope he gets better at everything to go along with his shooting which I'm sure he will.

Pete can certainly dunk, there's a difference between can't and doesn't.

Have you seen him do it in warmups or anything? Maybe your right I just haven't seen him come close to doing it. He had that one breakaway this year and he just laid it in when he had all the room in the world to dunk it. I would sure like to think he can it should be easy for him. It should be a prerequisite for crying out loud.

Fran has proven he will start a true freshman if they are deserving. Woodbury, Gesell and Uthoff will start. Jok and Uhl appear to be the guys right now but at least 3 freshmen will play. Bringing Clemmons and Uhl off the bench makes sense...some experience with the freshmen.

I believe you can add White to the list of true freshmen who started. While he didn't initially start, he cracked into the starting lineup during the conference season.

You are being obtuse. There is no one to spell Gesell and Clemmons if they both start. It has nothing to do with who is the best player. Clemmons will get starter's minutes. Both Gesell and Clemmons will likely be on the floor at the end of games...just not the beginning. Clemmons has to be the veteran on the floor to run the show when the starters take a breather.

If you don't think Uhl is going to play you have watched very little if any Iowa basketball this year. He played 10 minutes a game as a true freshman and the 8th/9th man in the rotation...on a team loaded with juniors and seniors. He's going to play...won't surprise me if his minutes double.

While I think it will be Gesell, Jok, Uhl, Uthoff and Woody I think Fleming pushes Jok and gets significant minutes by year end. Wagner will push Uhl and also get significant minutes. Should be an exciting a deep team if the freshman are ready to go and I think the 2 mentioned above are the most college ready from day one.

We've got way too many people on here who believe that starting is important. It isn't. As a former HS basketball coach I stressed to my players that it wasn't important who starts games; it's important who FINISHES them.

You should have never said that to your players. It makes the ones who don't finish games feel unimportant.

White definitely started in his Frosh year. My spot-on memory recalls Aaron having a
DUNK Fest on Dayton in our NIT game at CHA, his first year at Iowa.

That showed just a glimpse of the great Hawkeye he became in 4 years

Not really.

I think people were taking what I said to an extreme.

Obviously everyone but maybe the 5 has to be able to attack in certain situations.

I just think his potential is more as a Gattens type guy who runs the baseline and off screens for jumpers than a Marble type who's going to attack the rim allot.
