Next Hawkeye to be drafted?

With the NBA Draft going on this evening, it's got to make a guy wonder. Who will be the next Hawkeye drafted into the NBA? And no, Tyler Smith doesn't count. I don't think he'll get drafted anyway after his issues last year.

My guess is Melsahn Basabe. Unfortunately, that means we have another 3-4 years to wait for our next draftee.

He's not on the current roster. There is nobody on the current or verbal commit that will be drafted in the NBA.
Too bad, but it doesn't mean the team couldn't win a BIG title at some point.

Marble hasn't had as good of a day today. He's middle of the road or worse among players who have completed agility/explosiveness drills. He'll still get drafted, but sometime in the first half of the second round.

Not suprising. He was never a player I would describe as explosive or agile. He used his height/lenght over shorter guards.

I knew he wouldn't be outstanding, but I was hoping maybe he would surprise with a little bit better times than expected.

I think Dev has solidified his status in the middle of the second round. His measurables were fine, and he made spot up NBA 3's at a good clip. That is enough to keep him draftable.

He just needs to get somebody who actually values second round picks instead of just drafting euros and stashing them overseas.

Not sure what your point is. All these teams want to win. In many cases, the most successful teams of the past 10-15 years are the ones who have been most successful in identifying and collecting overseas talent.

How many of those guys were second round picks, though? Rubio, Dirk, Pau, Tony Parker, Vlade Divac, Z, Hedo Turkoglu, Bogut and pretty much every Euro player to make an impact has been taken in the first round.

Ginobili was like 57... I dunno. My point is I just hate seeing it. It's just teams not wanting to spend the money.

I agree. Kukoc, Manu and Marc Gasol are the only guys I can think of from the second round that made a real impact for their teams.

I believe that Omer Asik was a 2nd round pick by the Bulls....very good player making 16 million from Rockets next year.
