I am sure we disagree, but I think NU is over rated and over hyped going in to this season. NU's biggest win last year, was a loss. There worst loss was to Iowa State. I can't rank a team in the top 10, if I haven't seen them ever win a significant game. I feel like the hype of being "NEBRASKA" is what is giving them such a high ranking.
Last summer on KXNO, the hot topic shows were top 10 kicks to the stones for both Iowa & Iowa St fans, well going back to 2006, Nebraska fans have had our fair share of kicks to the stones when it comes to having that "significant win" escape Nebraska (VA Tech & Texas in 2009, Texas Tech in 2008, and Texas in 2006).
You turn the ball over 8 times, 5 of them within 5 yards of the end zone and you don't deserve to win, doesn't matter if it's the Super Bowl, BCS Championship Game, or against Iowa St. That loss was just flat out embarassing.
I think the hype and buzz for the 2010 season comes from how the 2009 season ended and the job that Pelini has done with the defense in only 2 years. Yes Nebraska loses Suh, but 7 starters do return on defense, including 3 on the defensive line and 4 in the secondary. Not to mention that 10 starters on offense who started The Holiday Bowl return, which if the offense can do in 2010 what they did against Arizona, well there's your national hype.
What's so impressive about Suh was that he was a nobody when Callahan was HC and seriously gave thought to transfering when Callahan was fired.
Myself, all I want in 2010 is for everyone to be healthy (injuries on offense the majority of the year really hurt the offense) and another shot at the Big 12 Championship and after that, let the chips fall were they may.
I look forward to the rivarly that awaits Nebraska & Iowa in 2011.
