I am glad ESPN has really stepped up this year. ESPN3 really helps bc people can actually watch it in quite a few areas. it just takes a lil bit of effort

they had the same coverage last year. but you're right its awesome. this year robles is going to be on the broadcast crew.

if you have directv you'll have find another way to get espn3. I remember that being tricky last year.

I just think it helps this year bc more people know what ESPN3 actually is. it is covered by more providers now

It's hard to complain about getting a better seed, but I think I would prefer that Evans and Lofthouse had gotten 6 seeds rather than 5 seeds so that they could avoid Taylor and Ruth for as long as possible.

Looks like Ramos is seeded right where he ought to be. Can he get by Steiber?
I would say no. Steiber wrestles really smart. And Ramos gets angry and loses his focus. Instead of being mad that Logan wrestles defensively he should find a way to break the defense, cause Logan isnt going to change that winning strategy anytime soon.

First thoughts... Love seeing DSJ as a 2 seed! Way to earn that man. Gambrall drawing Loder first round is tough and he will have a very tough road for AA. I wish Bobby could've knocked off Nelson in the Big 10 finals because I think he could've jumped to the 3 seed. All others came out about how I figured. I think the seeds give us a good shot minus GG.

I would say Steiber doesn't wrestle much at all....

Right thats why he is the 2 seed. Kid is a stud wrestler and we all know it

I cant believe I am saying this, but I really think Ramos needs to back off on the aggression a little if he wants to beat Stieber. I love/have loved Iowa wrestling my whole life, and a big part of that is the aggressive style. But as good as a defensive wrestler as Stieber is(like it or not), you may only need two great shots in a 7 minute match to beat him. Not the 7-10 shots that Ramos likes to get off in the typical match. Pushing the tempo is great against most guys, but if you get out of position even the slightest against someone like Stieber or Oliver, you are giving away points.

You may not like Stiebers style, but he is tough and if you give him position, he will score on you.

In general, I'm pretty happy with the brackets for the Hawks.

McD - Bedelyon has already beat Delgado once this year (way back in November, 9-3) so let's hope it happens again. Delgado is really wrestling at a high level right now. Also, McDonough's potential quarters opponent, Mango, is an interesting matchup. He was at 133 all year and moved down to 125 right at the end of January. McD has faced him 3 times before, scoring MDs each time.

Ramos - I actually feel pretty good about his road to the semis. Carter is going to be tough (obviously), but Tony's W over him back at NCAA duals was huge confidence-wise.

Marion - Ugh, Novachkov. That's brutal. I was really hoping for Stieber to get the #6 seed. Montell HAS to be on the offense in this match. Novachkov is a dominant rider and has really good defense. If he can get into the semis I LOVE his chances against Maple. Montell had that match in the Midlands final, just waited too long to start his offense. He dominated the 3rd period there, just ran out of time.

DSJ - I'm okay with DSJ's path. While there won't be much opportunity for bonus points, he's clearly better than the guys he'll see on his way to the semis. Everyone on the OTS is freaking out about a 1st round matchup with Houdashelt, the Big 12 champ. I know he only has 5 losses, but he has ZERO wins against a seeded wrestler (his best win is over either Pena (11-7) or Albert White (who he's knocked off 3 times). Also, while at first glance a rematch with Pena in the 2nd round is scary (Pena DID beat DSJ by MD at NCAA duals), that match was almost a month ago. Unlike the last time they faced, DSJ is really looking for his own offense rather than just relying on counters to score TDs. I think he'll be fine. Alton in the quarters is obviously scary, but better a guy DSJ already beat than one of the other top 8 seeds.

Evans - Ugh. Brutal being on the side of the bracket with both Taylor and #4 Bekzod. Also, he needs to be on his game right away. Both his 1st and 2nd round matchups are going to be tough. We can't afford to have unfocused Evans out there on Thursday. I don't know how Sorenson got the #3 seed. That was a gift. He should have a cakewalk to the Semis. Evans really should be the #6 seed. Asper dropped like a rock after going from an undefeated record to losing in the ACC final in SV.

Lofthouse - Love his bracket up to the semis. I think he's figured out Storley (if he didn't have the lapse at the end of the 3rd period in their last matchup, he'd be looking at 2 consecutive victories over the guy). Ruth will be another story.

Gambrall - For an unseeded guy, he got a decent draw. Better to face Loder (who Grant is 2-1 against in his career) than any of the top 7 seeds. If Grant were to somehow make it to the quarters, he did beat LeBlanc in last year's NCAA quarters, 8-3.

Telford - Shouldn't have any trouble making it to the quarters. He's already got a victory over #12 Gibson in the Iowa-ISU dual, winning 9-3. I don't think he has a snowball's chance in he!! of beating Rey in the quarters though.
