Our DB's wouldn't be able to hang with either LSU & Clemson's receivers.
Maybe...maybe...but from what I've heard USC's WR corps was one of the best, athletic, fastest groups in college football. Let's not fall in love with what the bandwagon wants you to believe. Our defense is top 10 for a reason. Perhaps LSU would scheme better and have a great Heisman winning QB but our DB's and pash rush would hold its own.

Ed has a mouthful of crawfish in his damn trap. Go Tiga's

Hard to argue with what I said. Waiting for a defensible reply. Prove to me that the experts dont believe USC receivers are one of the best in college football. I just responded to your implication that LSU would out-athlete us. Only on paper now. Star paper. I dont think we beat LSU lol If you give me their QB with our line, wrs and run game combined with our defense...I think we win a few times out of 10 games. We were 10-3 with Stanley (god bless nate!) but an excellent Heisman Trophy winning qb running clock, scoring pts...we would be in the mix. How many DB'S in the NFL the past few years. Hell, the past two decades. We have always produced good DB's that are successful in the NFL.

Nile Kinnick was listed at 137 on that CFB 150 Greatest players list.

"137. Nile Kinnick (RB, Iowa, 1937-39)
Rushing yards: 724 | Total offense: 2,169 yards | Interceptions by: 18
In those less cynical days, an All-American boy made his grades and kept his nose clean. Kinnick excelled at both, not to mention being one of the best backs in the nation. He earned Phi Beta Kappa and the 1939 Heisman, finishing his Hawkeyes career with 2,169 total yards and 18 interceptions. Kinnick turned down a lucrative NFL contract to go to law school. He turned down the U.S. Navy brass who wanted him to play service football because he wanted to be a good officer. As a Navy pilot, stationed on an aircraft carrier off the Venezuelan coast, his plane developed mechanical problems on a training flight. Kinnick landed in the ocean rather than endanger the ship and died at age 24."

Wow, feels like momentum turning again. Clemson D making better adjustments and disguising their blitzes better. And Joe and his Tigers got real lucky there, Clemson DB pretty much jumped the route.

Man, from 3rd-and-11 and an all-out blitz, to a little flare and a huge gain down the sideline AND poor tackling by Clemson.

I haven’t read the entire thread, and not sure if was mentioned but just wanted to say Clemson consulting with ISU about their defense is really paying off...
