Nate Kaeding chimes in and defends his coach

Its cause I like you. Its not like Im the only one on here anymore that wants him gone. I think Frans a good coach if that helps. Atleast I can tell hes awake.

Of course you like me, that goes without saying.

Back to the point at hand though. Other fans (myself included) are very frustrated by the losing and the state of the football team as it is. Yet I have not seen any other fans on here that are actually rooting for IOWA TO LOSE GAMES.....

Not going to read it because he has nothing to gain by saying anything negative. Hes one of my favorite Hawks but you have to be a real dumb dumb if you think he would say anything but positive. I know some of you out there are a little to dumb to know this about business.

your choice not to read and that's totally cool. But then don't post about what you "didn't read". It wasn't all positive, if you think it was, you missed the entire point.

But just keep railing on negativity. Yeah Yeah, KF isn't flawless and he has made mistakes in recruiting, personel, staff, clock managment, etc.....NOT the point of the article.

I dont need to. Its not like I want to hear negative things. I just know everything is going to be sugar coated. I dont care to read a fluff piece made to pat Kirk on the back, and try to tell everyone that everything is okay.

some people thrive on negativity. As if complaining and wailing on a message board will change things. We all post here for different reasons, yours is that you won't be happy until KF is gone, which is your right, it just isn't going to happen for many years, which is just fine for the silent majority, your are the VERY Loud Minority.

Waaaaay ahead of you. A certain person became insufferable this weekend, and was the charter member of mah ignore list.

I'm sure Nate's comments are sincere. And he's probably right.

But he hasn't been in Ferentz's program for over 8 years. The man has not gotten better, nor grown in his position. He's gotten stale. And THAT...is where the discontent originates.

So what your saying is you want Kirk to start practicing his air guitar on the sidelines?

Are you talking about fran or the IOWA STATE COACH WHO KIRK HAS LOST TO TWICE IN A ROW?

Are you really trying to put down the ISU coach? Man you guys are snorting too much kirk. Maybe you should make fun of central michigan while youre at it.

Thrive on negativity or hate losing? Kirk has a lot of you happy with average because he shows you below average.

You think Nate doesn't know what he is talking about, but you do? Christ, the stupidity is thick around here.

I'm not that torn either way on the sideline "demeanor" but will say this. In the early part of this century, Coach used to be an animated mo-fo, especially when his team got screwed (as happened numerous times this past weekend). Don't know how much "difference" it made in the outcome but it was an instant morale booster to the team and fans -- the murmur throughout Kinnick over a bad play / call immediately became a "we got your back" roar in support of him and the team. Not to mention, Kaeding was one of the most fired-up, cocky (in a good way) players every time he took the field. (I still remember that "F.U.!" look he gave the Wisky sideline after trying to ice him with a timeout.)

Football is hugely emotional and, when times are tough, sometimes you gotta stoke that fire. At the very least to demonstrate you're still very much invested. Not that anyone necessarily cares what the fans think or how they react over at the Fort but I will garantee it would go a long way toward keeping them "focused" on their job (and deflect some of the criticism).

I agree, you are the biggest troll on this site, there is no doubt about that. Ghost and Duff are funny, but aren't anywhere near the troll that you are. They need to step up their d0uchness if they want to start sniffing you level....

No see trolling is when you say things just to **** people off and try to bait them. Ive been saying for years that I dont like kirk. I understand that people wont like me because of that. If you watch duffbag and ghost they go into every thread and tell everyone they are dumb trying to get them ******. YOu like kirk and I dont. Im not trying to get you to fly off the handle.

Agreed, about the emotional game part, but at the same time those same emotions are capable of overcoming you and ultimately resulting in a loss of focus. There's a fine line in showing emotion and wearing them on your sleeve. IMO the ones that can control that emotion are the ones that succeed. Not saying that KF shouldn't display emotions but at the same time I think Polini could learn alot from KF and could tone it down a little. The only thing that really matters is what the players think of their leader and whether or not they are ready and willing to go to battle for him.

I'm not sure how to get you to understand.....I have said it about a dozen times to you. Many are upset, but you are the only person I know that is rooting for the Hawks to lose, as long as KF is coach. You do understand that you are NOT a fan of a team, if you are rooting for a team to lose. So as long as KF is the coach of Iowa, and you are rooting for Iowa to lose, you are NOT AN IOWA FAN.

Since you are aren't an Iowa fan, you are simply a TROLL stomping around this site, rooting against Iowa.

All I want is for these storms that Kirk has to weather the team through to be a little less severe. There is no excuse for not recovering the last 3 onside kicks that have come our way. Or the inability to manage a game clock, STILL. I thought he was going to read the book on that? I'm just really sick of the coaching staff not putting the team in a good position to win over and over again. Mistakes are still being made that should be easily corrrectable. Just let me reiterate- The Iowa football team has NOT been able to recover the last 3 onside kicks that have come their way. Can anybody explain that? And it's not just bad luck.

Do I have to give my tickets back?

Apparently you're referring to yourself. I clearly said that Nate does know what he's talking about. He tells a great story from a player's perspective. He was there.

But he hasn't been in the IOWA program since 2004, so he may be coming from a different frame of reference. Some people are great at building something up, but hit a wall once they get there. Maintaining it can be a different challenge. That's the coach we're watching today...not the one that Nate admires for the way he kept the guys together as he built the program up.

Ya know, it's quite possible both perspectives are accurate. Or is that too tough for you to grasp (see your own closing words). Great once, does not equal great always. Things ebb and flow, people change, the landscape changes.
