My thoughts on what should happen to Penn State

Is there any chance that penn state actually suffers some kind of penalty? This whole scandal isn't hurting their recruiting

If the NCAA puts the hammer down they won't have any of those guys left. I still can't believe that parents would allow their kid to go there right now. Just plain crazy.

Just shut up all of you, I`m also victim of sexual assault by school bus driver , I`m just sick because you think youre doing a favor for victims. but you're not!!!!!!!11

Yes, but he is JM's RIGHT hand man.

Deace posts his BS and never replies to anything directed at him. Why is this?

Good question. People have been banned for posting "drive-bys", yet somehow this hater gets away with it time and time again.

Penn State punish itself? LOL. Never happen. Read comments by members of the board of trustees to proposals to take down Paterno's statue and likenesses, or read the fan base reaction to the Freeh report. They still don't get it. The B1G and NCAA need to step in.

If their football program doesn't get at least a one year ban I'll lose a lot of passion for, and interest in, college football.

Mine is already waning, ironically due to BTN. I see the old games Iowa was involved in and I feel stupid for investing so much time and energy. Because really...who gives a sh!t.

And the rules. All of the goddamn rules. You know what I like about soccer? There's like 4 rules. Same with hockey. Not so with football. You could call a penalty on every single play. You practically have to learn sign language to pick up on the penalties. It's all just overwrought. The game is reduced to fits and starts, there is no flow. And then of course you have to deal with coaches like our dearly departed OKeefe who cannot see glaringly obvious deficiencies and or opportunities right in front of them.

Now, if you place all of that crap over the welfare of children, yeah, I'm gonna have a hard time avoiding the cognitive dissonance of actively supporting such an enterprise.

Call me a blasphemer, I don't care. The scales have dropped from my eyes.

It isn't hard to understand...

Who said there are ncaa "rules that cover this"?
There aren't any ncaa rules for the rape, that's why the DOE & others will attack this from the legal side.
The ncaa's function is the non functioning compliance dept & subsequent LOIC.

Why is it so hard for people to separate the two.

NCAA = non functioning compliance dept/LOIC
DOE/Law Enforcement = the actual criminal activities

but reasonable people can (and are) drawing different conclusions about what role the NCAA should play here.

If athletic department officials are committing fraud by stealing tickets or diverting funds, that is obviously a legal issue. But is this also an NCAA issue, as the athletic department failed to prevent what was being done?

If it can be proven that Penn State knowingly and willingly had no compliance oversight or mechanisms in place in its athletics department, then yes the NCAA could hit them with penalties. The Freeh Reports hints at/alleges this, but that's not the same as proving it. And from there, it could be argued that Penn State benefited by not having these compliance mechanisms in place for such a long period of time.

But it's not whacko to have the opinion that there may not be NCAA sanctions coming out of this.

Most of the people claiming a lack of NCAA jurisdiction are using the "competitive advantage" and/or "repeat offender on probation" angles.

I happen to believe that the NCAA's jurisdiction goes much further than that, as indicated by the questions they submitted to PSU, and that they are not bound by precedent in meting out punishment in this instance.

Not the NCAA's job. Criminal matter. Civil suit matter. Maybe a token bowl ban,but I doubt it....simply does not fit the crime...not a situation that is covered in NCAA bylaws. If they start slapping penalties for criminal transgressions on campus, they are overreaching...let the authorities handle it.

Anybody who thinks this is clearly out of their mind or a PSU fan.
