That's cool...and I agree with you, the 70's were awesome. I listen to some of it daily. It just chaps me when someone says stuff like "no good music is made today"... that's old man syndrome and this is coming from a 40 year old. It's out there, it's being made, you're just not listening to it.
Yessir. I believe it is a sign that you are willingly turning into an old person once you stop making an effort to find good, new music(yes, it does exist). You're allowing your brain cells to die and you are stagnating.

I agree. IMO most people claim music was "best" when they were impressionable youths. I grew up in the grunge era so my go to SiriusXM channels are Turbo (90's-00 hard rock) and Lithium (90s-00 Alternative). I'm always starving for new music but its hard to hear anything that can beat the music I grew up with and was so passionate about. Clearly we become more cynical the older we get. ;)

It certainly doesn't help that SiriusXM and youtube/spotify/etc let us stay in our own music bubbles and never leave. Its the same problem social media and news outlets are currently facing. People want their own beliefs reinforced and they ignore or call everything else "fake"

I grew up in the same era and up until 5 or 6 years ago - was pretty much stuck in that era music wise and had to make an actual effort to try and find other stuff I liked. Like, how many times can I listen to STP's Purple? I learned how to play it and sing it back to front since I was 18... I needed something else. I am wayyyy into music tho. Probably more then your normal person. It's always been that thing that levels me out. Playing it or listening to it. I got Pandora around 2009 and started writing down some of the other bands I liked when they came up suggested off of listening to things like... The White Stripes, QOTSA or Nirvana. Then I checked out those bands on youtube..... then that grew, I started buying those bands albums. Then I was like, f it, I am spending $50 a month in music again like when I was a teenager and decided to just bit the bullet and get a Spotify acct. Now, anytime someone says "have you head of" ... I actually go and listen to it because I always have music playing while I work and now pretty much every artist is at the touch of a button. New Eminem Album? No problem. New QOTSA album? Easy. New Foo Fighters? Got it the day it came out. Someone said... "Check out the Artic Monkeys" to me... I did, I LOVE THEM NOW. I can't find enough new music these days.

I go through music phases. Music is all about mood. That is why the nostalgia sticks so much because if you are in your good times, the music of that time will stick longer.

But it is not uncommon for me to go from today’s hip hop to country to classical to grunge to Michael Buble. All depends on the mood

Absolutely correct. I can't speak for everybody, but, for me, music is a major memory trigger. When I hear a song, it immediately takes me back. Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" came on two days ago, and I immediately remembered that was the song that was playing when I skated with my first girlfriend for the first time. I was 13. Early Elton tunes remain some of my favorites to this day.

Sometimes I actually get a little depressed listening to the old stuff. It takes you back to a time when the world wasn't as badly screwed up as it is now.

Meh. The world was every bit as screwed up, you just didn’t hear about it all.

^ Meh, to you too. You're wrong. Sure it was screwed up then too, but it's worse now. And there's plenty you don't hear about now, too.

There's a ton of classic rock on here - a lot of AC/DC which doesn't shock me with Hawkeye fans. They're amazing...

but for those of you into that - if there's one band to check out that is new and from my earlier videos - It's Royal Blood. They are kind of like a modern AC/DC or kind of like Jet from the 90's. I feel like this song will be playing in stadiums for the next 10 years.

Not bad. I don't get an AC/DC vibe from them, but I could listen to it.

I prefer early AC/DC with Bon Scott, like this one. It's a song about a big, fat woman ... from Tazmania :)
