MSUM's Tucker shows a knack for the basket | INFORUM | Fargo, ND

Very glad to hear of his success. He has been shooting the ball well for them. From article:

Moorhead - Anthony Tucker showed his deft shooting touch during a preseason workout with a Minnesota State Moorhead assistant coach.

The drill called for Tucker to make as many 3-point shots as he could from five different spots around the arc before he missed two shots in a row from each. The goal was to finish with 100 makes after adding up the totals from each spot.

Tucker didn’t need to leave the first station on the right baseline. The senior drained 110 shots from there before he missed two in a row.

The kid was a sniper at iowa...hopefully he has exorcised the demons he had at iowa. He is the main guy I look at really being able to help this team right now because of his outside shooting prowess. We have a great roster and I wouldn't kick anyone off for him (because of the problems he had) but his shooting was so good.

Good for him. He never really got the right help from the git go in regard to the alcohol situations. It was a miracle that he didn't die from either one of those situations.

Seriously? College kid gets drunk, should they call Dr. Phil?

I am fine with how things turned out. Had he overcome his demons and had stayed Iowa might have won enough games to keep Lick around for another year.

At no point should it be celebrated that a kid couldn't overcome his demons while at Iowa. But with that said, I for one am glad Lickliter is gone.

Still has one of the purest basketball shots I've ever seen.

Obviously I am not comparing Oglesby and Tucker but Fran said a while back that JO was the best pure shooter he has ever seen. How do you feel about JO? Or was Fran just using his "coach speak"?

Not celebrating that at all, I am glad how it all turned out. It appears Tucker succeeded at overcoming his problems and Lick is long gone.

Ogelsby is more of a complete basketball player that shoots really well. Tucker is a pure shooter. Ogelsby is more like gatens. Tucker is more like korver in the nba (pure shooter and weak at other aspects).

Cosigned. Tucker is more of a complete package than JO is. He has a scorer's mentality whereas Ogles3 has a "shoot only when completely open" mentality.

You and Casey388 don't agree. I don't think JO is anywhere near the defender that Gatens was or will ever be. His defense is better but not that good yet. He still has time to improve but Gatens had drive and motivation. JO is always going to be a come off the bench guy. Maybe his Gatens had been in JO's class, then maybe Gatens wouldn't be a starter I don't know.

I my opinion Gatens was better and will in the end be a better player than JO.

Tucker is a better passer and shooter, has better BB IQ at this point. Both lack on the D end. Neither rebound well.

I agree gatens is better. I am just saying he has a similar game to gatens. Korver is better than tucker and that is why he is in the nba. But their games are similar in that they are just pure shooters and not that great at other aspects.

Jo can defend really well and people that don't fully understand defense don't see it as well. He is our best denial defender. He also doesn't force his shot and really he is one of the best ball handlers and passers on the team.

Comparing the 2 games:
1) ballhandling - jo
2) passing - jo
3) 3pt shot - tucker
4) midrange shot - push (tucker can make them but can't create them as well)
5) at the hoop - jo
6) rebound - jo
7) defense - jo (this is the biggest difference)
8) bb iq - jo (this is very debatable but his knowledge and ability at more aspects makes me give him the edge).
