MSU seemed to enjoy the drubbing a little too much

If you don't think our very own Fran McCaffrey is trying to get our players to play with that kind of swag you are in denial. He would love for our players to play with that kind of edge.
Swag is one thing, clowning and talking **** up 40 points is something completely different.

exactly, I don't get why everyone is complaining about MSU players...they were up 45 they had a right to do whatever they wanted.

Whether they were classless or not I don't really care, the best way to put a stop to the humiliation is to play competitively. Right now we don't have the players to do that, and you can see how much it's eating up coach Fran.

Our best hope is to win a few more games we shouldn't this year and give recruiting an added boost. The sooner we can forget last night the better.

It almost seemed like Basabe started it all. He dunked on Nix and was running his mouth and things seemed to get pretty chippy from that point on.

Since I have no mic I can't tell if there was a lot of stuff being said throughout the game but Basabe dunks on Nix with Iowa down a bunch and seems to be jawing a bit.

It's a fine line for sure but as a fan you would probably be ok if we acted like that while drubbing MSU.

I am sure Iowa was enjoying themselves while beating North Carolina A & T, Chicago State and some of those bums they killed in the preseason.

I could care less how a team is acting. I did not think MSU was really acting that bad. Maybe I am just less sensitive to those type of things and care more to analyze the play.

Yeah Basabe had no reason to talk.

I put that up on Twitter last night too.
It was the exact same type of game, super blow out, Iowa getting absolutely punked. And MSU players clowning around, showboating, etc...

It's not sour grapes, it's thinking you should be acting like you've been there. Green and Nix were repeat offenders late in the second half. Finally Nix got T'd.

MSU is 10x the team Iowa is right now, better athletes, better program, etc... but they sure didn't act the part up 40+ points. Not to mention Izzo keeping the starters in with 8 minutes to go up that much. He's begging to have one of his key players to get hurt - and this isn't the first time he's left the starters in during a complete butt-kicking of Iowa. We should know, Iowa gets their butt-kicked on a regular basis up in the Breslin Center.

Now we are reaching. This isn't football. MSU also had 5 bench players with over 10 minutes of playing time, so their starters were not out there the whole time. It was a beat down. MSU has enough thugs on their team that they are going to showboat in a game like this. I really don't think it has to do with Iowa as much as it has to do with the blowout.

Who cares! MSU beat us down. They didn't let off the accelerator and that's what good teams do. I always hear fans bash KF for not keeping the hammer down against an inferior opponent and now we are supposed to get mad when it happens to us? No use dwelling on a loss, time to move on to our next opponent and look for us to have a better game.

I, for one, think they should have sat on their bench staring blank eyed forward. Basketball is serious business after all.

I trust this will be banked in Fran's memory. I get the impression that Fran doesn't forget these type of things.

Right. Like you wouldn't have felt the same way if the shoe had been on the other foot. What do you want them to do, sit there and have straight faces and not be in a good mood when they are drilling us by 40?

No man, Michigan State just really hates Iowa! You know cuz they have been relevant in the current MSU's players careers.

It was the jawwing and chippiness that bugged me. Look,, you're up 40. Put in the scrubs, stop starting crap. Just let it go. If you want to be happy fine, but talking **** seems odd, esp considering Iowa isn't a top caliber team. If you are schooling Duke or UNC, get cocky, no problem. It's like some nonathletic high schooler going to the park and beating some 13 year old kids in BB and then talking smack. Great, you're better than them and mopping the floor, you don't need to jaw and then puff up your chest. We are talking about a 130+ RPI team here, not a blue chip program yet. And this isn't a slam on Iowa, I think they are improving and could win some big games the rest of the year. That said, Iowa was overmatched, just get out of there with a 40+ pt win and be happy, no need for the antics.

I have no idea what it would be like with the shoe on the other foot. I highly doubt I will be alive to see Iowa beat MSU by 40.

I agree but I saw this kind of crap last year with MSU. Can't remember what game it was but the game was over and Green needed 1 assist to get a triple double. Izzo left him in and was doing everything he could to get him the triple double including having him bring it up the floor. That is just weak as was the show boating last night.

I remember that game. It was last year vs Penn State. They were up like 15 points with under a minute to go and they keep him in, he lobs a pass full court to get the 10th assist with under 30 ticks to go. I remember how ****** off the PSU players were, esp considering they called a timeout to try to get it for him.
