More Hubbard info coming to light?

I guess if this remotely true that begs the question- Was he given impossible set of rules to follow? I understand giving people enough rope to hang themselves, just don't be the kick the chair out from underneath him and act shocked the rope went taught.

The guy was an adult. I hope he was treated like one.

Anybody else suspicious that these supposed sources were actually posts on this board?

With how that was written, I am nearly certain of it. The part about how any other player would have gotten only a minor penalty, if they got one at all, is what really gives it away, IMO.

Sounds like these "conditions" (which I don't buy for a second) would have made life not a lot different from a stay at the graybar hotel.

I read the article, and I guess I don't automatically make that connection.. I guess just because the sources don't want to be named doesn't mean they are message board posters. Impossible to say WHO these sources are IMO just from reading an article.

These same sources gave Ecker permission to photograph Iowa's new football uniforms back in the 90's.

It was really a tongue in cheek comment. Just thought it was curious that the comments of the sources in the article are almost identical to posts on this board.

I expressed this sentiment in other threads. While I agree it was appropriate to set conditions for Hubbard in view of the risk Iowa took in offering an ex-con a scholarship, I also wonder if they were reasonable for a 26-year-old adult living in Iowa City. If he's not getting drunk, disorderly, consorting with unsavory characters, or doing anything else illegal, where does the line of acceptable behavior end and the stripe of unacceptable behavior begin with Anthony Hubbard?

Who held a gun to his head and made him sign the LOI?

The issue is about setting someone up for failure. I personally try not to do this. I often have people ask me to make concessions so they can attempt to accomplish something of which I know there is virtually no chance of success. In these situations I feel it is more useful to provide a dose of reality instead of bending over backwards so they can crash and burn.

If course, I have no idea what happened. Just saying I understand the concern of those questioning this supposed policy.

While I agree, I don't think asking him not to drink alcohol is asking too much. (IF that happens to be the case)

Exactly. If this guy was a clean and 'reformed' as he was touted to be by everyone around him, then there was no reason to believe he wouldn't be able to handle a strict set of rules. If you want to play ball at the highest level, sacrifices need to be made.
