More Hubbard info coming to light?

Yes shame in him for trying to teach that young man there are consequences for our actions. One of the biggest problem in today's society is there are too few young people who expect the world to be delivered to them on a silver platter.

From what I have learned about the situation what wassabi just said is 100% false. Of course unlike him I'm not just blindly perpetuating rumours I've heard in a bar from my college buddies.

I never said that I was 100% accurate and even told Jon he could delete my post if he felt necessary. Just saying what I have heard from guys in the media, not bar buddies. I do however wish I could go back 15 years and be in college again! Good times!

And until you actually say who your sources are Duff, you are no more credible than me

Listen to you, referring to Hubbard as a young man as if you are some 50 or 60 years old. Dude, you are like a minute or two older than Hubbard is. Trying to sound like some old cat full of wisdom.....stop it.

Don't call out Duff! He is the only one that has any insight as to what is going on and is full of knowledge

Actually one of us is more credible than the other, and ultimately it's not up to either of us to decide.

So far I have going for me that a former beat writer for the Gazette wrote a story in his new venture that essentially backs up everything I said a day earlier.

What do you have?

I really don't get why you are getting upset Duff. I never said you were wrong or that I disagreed with you. All I am saying is what I have heard from a couple people, who, believe it or not, are not 20 year old drinking buddies. I posted what I had heard, said it was just a rumor, and said that Jon could delete it if he wanted. I'm not comparing what I heard to what you heard. You are the one doing it.

So my dog ate a bird, then I broke my leg, and then my biking suit got all messed up. Wait this is the bird thread isnt it.

Face facts. Until someone comes forward that knows exactly why Hubbard is no longer a member of the basketball team, every post we are reading falls into the category of opinion or speculation.

I'm not upset.

I do think it's irresponsible for spreading rumours involving criminal activity of a basketball player without any evidence.

I've said what I've said about your "information" because I don't want anyone confusing what I've said with what you've said.

Not a single named source. This is just a crappy internet article designed to generate hits. I am pretty sure an internet source has never worried about a libel suit. This is bull.

I am friends with people who play in the PTL and I live in IC. But I guess they have reasons for lying to me don't they? Just because you enjoy being ignorant doesn't mean you need to shoot down people trying to speak the truth on the situation.

That's why I said to Jon that he could delete it.

I don't think anyone will confuse my information with yours....especially since you keep patting yourself/information on the back! :);)

The concerns that Hubbard was set up for failure or given too short of a leash blow my mind. Guys, this was a convicted felon. Convicted felons give up all kinds of rights that we take for granted. Upon their release from prison, they re-enter society with an asterisk. A convicted felon doesn't have the same status and legal rights as the rest of us.

Given that status, Anthony Hubbard should have counted his blessings every single night that he was offered a full ride scholarship to a solid academic institution. Staying out of a bar for two years (hypothetically) in exchange for the scholarship was the best deal he'll ever be offered. Whatever the conditions of the deal, he'll never find a better one as a convicted felon.

As long as there is something resembling food there will be fish.

JD's been pretty mum on the subject all together, as has everyone else that typically reports on Iowa sports. I'm guessing it's because Fran has made it pretty clear what they have said is all they will say regarding the situation and they've also made it clear they would appreciate it if speculation was kept to a minimum.

It's no stretch to say Fran gets pretty angry sometimes. In fact the line "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" is probably more applicable to him than it was some huge green guy. I've seen first hand what happens to people that get on his bad side (one example being the Jeff Horner grad assistant debacle) and it's not pretty. While I don't think he'd go out and try to ruin someones career lets just say if your job was to get and report information about the Iowa basketball team, and Fran wasn't a fan of yours, he would make your job a pretty difficult one.

I personally think the fact that no professional other than Jim Ecker have gone on record to report this is far more interesting than what Hubbard actually did to get the boot.

It's also a black mark on Fran' record. I love the guy, and at the time he awarded Hubbard a scholarship, I said I trusted his judgment. But obviously his judgment was off on this one. Hubbard couldn't even last a month? Nothing but an absolute disaster that cost Fran a lot of credibility and capital with the administration.

Sure, if Hubbard was booted for poor behavior, then Fran took the high road in his public comments. But just as importantly, Fran saved himself a lot of embarrassment and awkwardness by not having to publicly face his greatest mistake as Hawkeye coach. Like I said, I love the guy, but at some point they pay you the big bucks to face those types of questions.

I've got a feeling he will be here a long time and this will be far from his greatest mistake as Hawkeye coach.

I said on Monday that I had heard he was kicked off the team for assaulting a women. I've had 2 other peoples tell me the same thing since. I doubt we ever know for sure though. At this point, who cares? He is gone. F him

I don't know if this is true, but it makes a lot of sense to me.

I don't buy the having a drink story based on what Barta said at his press conference a month ago.

Barta said at the press conference there was were no special requirements for Hubbard, he had the same requirements as any other student athlete.

Barta wouldn't lie about something like this, he would have no reason too. That means having a beer downtown would be okay.

Now if he did get in a argument or assault a women, it would be zero tolerance for him, for others it probably would not be.

So the coaches and/or administration knew of this and decided to keep it a secret? Highly unlikely they cover up an actual crime and create a whole different story regarding his complete release.
