what a joke. One ref had it right...he was starting to signal pick, and the other guy put up the TD signal.
But the clincher...is with a clear replay, they didn't have the balls to overturn it. Probably thought they wouldn't get out of the stadium alive.

Stupid rule. Even if the defensive player has more of the ball, the offense is rewarded with the catch. SMH

A simultaneous-possession ruling is not overturnable on review, unfortunately. (EDIT: not true, the ESPN analyst was wrong, it is reviewable if it's in the endzone. See NFL statement and full rule on page 6)
The only thing I could say in the ref's defense is that when you view the play from the end-line, which they only showed once, it appears Tate got both hands in before the players contacted the ground, and one hand appears to be between the ball and the defender's chest. The ball's clearly against the defender's chest and so it seems he has "more" control... but I'm not sure if the rule makes that distinction.
The PI call that kept the second-to-last drive alive was horrendous (blatant OPI) as was, IMHO, the roughing-the-passer call on same drive.

Simultaneous possession doesn't come into play if one of the guys get possession first, so the rule shouldn't even apply here. I only know that because of what the on air rules guy said. I highly doubt the refs knew that when they were watching the replay. Plus Tate pushed some dude in the back right before the ball got there.

This is 100% correct and they probably did the right thing. Just give Seattle the TD and get out in 1 piece. The replacement refs are the biggest joke on 2 legs and it is not even their fault.

Their was no simultaneous possession and that was obvious on the replay and that is reviewable. The refs did what they had to do to get out alive.

It actually looked like a good call to me. Both guys had some control of the ball until they wrestled around for it. That means it should go to the offense. Not a Packer fan or hater. No skin in the game. If not a good call, it definitely wasn't the worst call I've ever seen. The regular refs boned things up routinely too.

I've now seen this 1000 times on ESPN...
Both players go up and Jennings catches it and Tate gets his left hand in (right hand debatable as to whether it's on the ball or not). Then as they both come to the ground, Tate takes his right hand completely off as Jennings cradles the ball in. Tate then tries to put his right hand back on the ball as Jennings falls down on top of him. At what point does simultaneous possession come in to any of that?
