MNF Ending

I completely agree that it's about control. And like I said, it looks like they both have some control of the ball but neither has 100% control until several seconds after the play is over. According to the rules, that's a simultaneous catch. Maybe the rule is stupid or needs better definition, but that's not on the refs.

It's a lot like the Pats-Raiders tuck rule game. Correctly called according to the rules (rules that are still in place), and yet people still think the refs screwed up.

Wow, Really I'm just not buying you think that.. No way, no how.... Nite all!!

He was meaning to say Tate had his HAND wedged between Jennings chest and the Ball.. Only because Tate lands and desperately reaches around with no hand on the ball, to try and knock ball loose that Jennings had intercepted.. . Do you grasp that 340?

Believe it or not, I can possess a football simply using my hands. Amazing, I know. And I'm not even a professional football player.

Dude if you can't tell that Jennings had control LONG before Tate ever even pretended to have his arms on it, then I don't know what to tell you. Tate NEVER had control of it. Jennings has the ball caught and to his chest in the air.

Wow, I feel like we watched different plays or something. I honestly don't know what to tell you. You're convinced Tate had no control of the ball, and I think it's obvious that he had his hands possessing the ball before Jennings could get full control. I'm just calling it a night. Peace out.

Go Hawks. Go Chiefs.

How can you say that Tate had possession of this?

Just when I think I'm out...

Considering that both refs have run up to the players, I'd say this picture took place well after the catch was over. Being able to wrestle the ball away afterwards is completely irrelevant.

Just watched the video and he does grab his arm. He doesn't even initially touch the ball until they land when he reaches in. Anybody who can't see that is either drunk or just trolling.

Here's how the official NFL rule reads:

"If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control."

The standard for a catch is this:

"A forward pass is complete (by the offense), or intercepted (by the defense), if a player, who is inbounds: (a) secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground. . ."

I think it is pretty clear from the multiple angles in the video above and from the picture above that Tate does not have a catch the NFL's standard simultaneous to Jennings have a catch to the NFL's standard.

Edit: The standard I'm focusing on is the "in his hands or arms" aspect of the standard (emphasis added). It's pretty clear that Jennings has the ball secured "in his hands or arms" while does merely has the ball pinned against Jennings. Pinning the ball against Jennings is not securing the ball in his arms. The only way that anyone could possibly convince me that Tate had control simultaneous to Jennings would be to prove that Tate has such large, strong hands that he could have had full possession of the ball in only his left hand while Jennings was also controlling the ball. That would be a tough sell.

I think the Seahawks should have just kicked a FG the possession before, ala Ferentz style, as there defense was pretty impressive. Grant it they wouldnt have started the last drive in as good field position but they could have been winning it on a FG instead. Packers shouldn't be that burned out about it all, they were getting pushed around at the line all day when they had the ball. Seahawks are a tough team.

Are you a Packers fan? (Is everyone here but me a Packers fan?) It's pretty clear that Tate had some control of the ball. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

you have to be takin crazy pills as Tate never had any control of hat football period.

shouldnt be burned about getting a win taken away from your team. Tell me you are not that clueless? They won that game and these clueless refs took it away.

Did anyone else notice that Tate flat out shoved #37 of the Packers and completely took him out of the play. Should have been offensive pass interference.

I think everyone on the planet noticed that. Well, except for the one dude standing directly in front of them.

Shouldn't have even mattered. I know you don't want to call a penalty in that situation, but when it is 2 hands to the middle of the back you have to call that. I am embarassed for the official that called it a TD and missed the penalty. Th

Still being the instigator I see 340. See this is where you show complete ignorance and I'm just not buying it. So you know that picture is taken after Jenning catches the ball and he goes to the ground with BALL. When he gets to the ground Tate is trying to get his hands on the ball and Jennings does the obvious thing and that is TURNS away from Tate to gain even more control of the BALL he just CAUGHT.. Notice this picture shows what Tate never had which was his HAND on the FOOTBALL.

Turns out the ref had the possession call right!!! He just forgot which team was on offense!!! All is forgiven.
