Ummm...dipshit...this is site with Iowa football fans and Iowa alumni. An Iowa student goes missing? A thread is started...so comments continue. No one is saying she deserved more attention and obviously she didn't. It's the circumstances dude. She was still missing and the other situation resolved itself more quickly.

I don't think she was missing, which made the case of Molly a lot different situation. Also, there's no telling really what the media will latch on to. Molly was a very visible, social girl with pictures at the games and missing with a reward that grew daily. 2 situations are likely not going to get the same coverage - one was a hit and run with a confession, the other a complete mystery with things like "human trafficking" being bantered about as a possible scenario. That's kind of a buzz word for media now. It's not fair, both girls are dead, but that's not really how our society works and I think the cases were entirely different.

She wasn't really ever missing and it turned out to be a domestic issue or horrific accident. Two different cases.

Tibbetts was missing for a month and they were searching for suspects. Two completely different deals. But, yes, we should be just as empathetic about the young SE Iowa woman as well.

Yes, we live in a mess. Nobody has their priorities straight. It's all about material possessions and who can get over the top on somebody else for gain. F'ed up.

In cases like this, I think the perp should die in the same manner as the victim. I'd rather not have to pay for years to support some jackass in prison.

I meant the act of people seeking out the criminal (only if sure), not the results of when was a wrongful act back in history. Yea, don't want to go there.

I'm just saying, I can feel how anger could drive a group of individuals to get their own justice in cases like this.

Yeah but no court is ever going to sentence a person to be raped, beaten and then strangled to death. There have been too many times where the courts have executed someone only to find out they made a mistake after the fact

They don't need to perform the rape, but maybe beat and strangle them, again, only if 100% certain have the correct person.

I just can't imagine being the father of either of these girls. I'd have a hard time controlling myself during a trial. I just can't fathom having to go through that. A guy sitting in prison...however difficult, wouldn't be enough. It' just wouldn't.
 
Pretty sad day here in Iowa. Mollie should be in Iowa City right now sitting in one of her classes. She was going to room with a friend. How sad she must feel right now. Looking forward to the 5p press conference to see what is said by the police.
 
I've read reports that there is a lot of info they are going to go over. I wonder if they have a suspect. I thought they played a great card the last presser asking people to reevaluate family, friends, and individuals they know for weird, strange, odd behavior and if anybody had damage or changed vehicles abruptly. They outlined signs what to look for which I thought was a good move. Wonder if a tip came in. Also wonder if just some lay guy happened to come about her. Who knows.
