Miller: Can Iowa Still Win the Big Ten?

"... I don't see a win at MSU..."

Iowa vs MSU last 3 GMs decided by 3 pts or less (plus OT)

Marble missing one gm payne missing another.

No read on to think that Iowa can't win at MSU.. Not easy, but based on last 3, reasonable to believe...

I haven't written off this game, either. It is going to be extremely difficult, but if Iowa plays anything like it did against UM on Saturday, I think anything is possible.

Iowa can ill-afford to slip up again though, IMO.

Not one of those three games was in East Lansing though. Iowa's recent history in East Lansing has not been pretty, but we've already ended long road losing streaks against Ohio St and Illinois this year, so why not add MSU to that list as well.

This. I'd gladly take a win in East Lansing. But history says that's probably a long shot, especially since MSU could be fully healthy by the time that game is played. But like you said, we've ended a couple streaks this year already. And MSU hasn't been unbeatable at home this year.

Iowa deserves a win over MSU. We've either outplayed them or played equal to them the last three games and walked away with nothing. We can beat them regardless of where it's played. Let's not act like MSU has been amazing at home either. They really haven't been. Worse teams than us have gone there and played well this year.

MICH beat them there by 10 (no payne) and we saw how good MICH is w back to back road losses to IU then ran out of gym by Hawkeyes...

I would love to see OSU play the roll of spoiler and assist our efforts. They still have MSU and Michigan and would love to see them "help" us back into the picture after taking one from us at home and putting us another loss back.

They will come through for Iowa tomorrow night....OSU by 11.....Stauskas 11 pts on 4-16 shooting

Two of those were at home and the other was at a neutral site (BTT).

I'm not saying we can't do it, but good Lord, that place has been absolutely awful for the Hawks in the last 15 years. I'm going to guess, without looking, that our average margin of defeat in East Lansing is over 20 points per game.

Haven't won in Breslin since the first game after Chris Street's death. I believe that's our longest losing streak in one arena, maybe ever.

I just looked it up, and since the 1999-2000 season, we have played at MSU 12 times (DNP in 04-05 and 12-13). In those 12 games, we have lost by an average of 20.17 points, with 3 of those being by 30+. The hilarious thing is that Lickliter, by far, had the most success against MSU at the Breslin Center. He played them there all 3 years and lost by margins of 14, 8 and 7. Alford played there 7 times and lost by an average of 23 ppg and Fran has played there twice and lost the first by 19 and the second by 34.

So it's one of those things that, until we actually break thru, I'm just going to assume a loss.

I'm guessing the reason Lick's teams lost by less is tempo. Hard to lose by 20 when you don't every shoot!

The last game I remember Iowa playing well at MSU was the first game after Chris Street was killed 21 years ago. And they had to make up a huge deficit to take it into OT to win it.

I would have thought that too, but those games were like 70-63...the worst was 66-52. So not like it was 40-36 like it was that one game at Carver....

I do remember one of those games we were down a bunch and then just started raining in threes. I think it was Lick's last year and though we were going to randomly break the streak with one of the worst Iowa teams ever. Then we didn't do that.

IF this, not just possible, probable. Saturday was as complete a game Iowa has played in many, many moons. It was better than 1st 1/2 at Illannoy because of the quality of opponent and no meltdown. Iowa broke Michigan's will and could've dropped a hundy if top 9 would've stayed in.

THAT is what the Hawks are capable of and would beat any other B1G team by 2-digits, home or away and stroll to E-8. That said, it has yet to be seen if they have raised the bar back up toward realizing potential or just a "take out the frustration" performance.

If they've raised the bar, there's no question they will win out. Still, unfortunately, they've played away control (especially the one against fOSU) and there are way too many things that others have to do for the title to end up in Carver. Won't happen. Shift focus to winning BTT and securing a minimum 3 seed. If win out + BTT, Hawks are a 2!

History aside, it's pretty basic, really. Michigan State will be tough as hell at home, but I see more a more complete squad wearing black and gold. When the Hawks decide their sick of losing to these guys, they'll win. I think they decided that last year in the BTT, but didn't have quite the firepower to pull it off. They have that firepower this year, and would have taken the Spartans a couple weeks ago if they would have come out with the same mindset as in last year's BTT.

I think Ohio State reverts to the team that struggles offensively. I think Michigan continues to be 1 of 3 teams in the B1G not to lost back to back. I say Michigan by 5...but will be cheering for Ohio State.

Windsor, are you kidding?

If IU and Iowa, with good defenses shut down Staukas, what do you think The Cherub Faced Mugger is going to do to him?

He will look like The Black Knight after his encounters with Dan Dakichs ManCrush.

tOSU will win easily....

Can you be more specific? Who's the Cherub faced mugger? :)
