Miller: Can Iowa Still Win the Big Ten?

Windsor, are you kidding?

If IU and Iowa, with good defenses shut down Staukas, what do you think The Cherub Faced Mugger is going to do to him?

He will look like The Black Knight after his encounters with Dan Dakichs ManCrush.

tOSU will win easily....

Below is the same post I made in the Michigan thread.

I think Stauskas will play better than he did against Iowa. I think Morgan will play better...Ohio State front court nothing like Iowa's. I think Robinson will play better...don't think he can possibly play worse. Albrecht could play better. LeVert and Irvin could play worse. Also, I don't care how good of defense Ohio State plays tomorrow night it can't be tougher than the defense we played Saturday. The Hawks were locked in on the defensive end.

I don't think Craft will score like he did against us. I think he will continue to be the facilitator. Ross is a reliable scorer. Smith has been playing much better the last few games. If he can score Ohio State is a far better team.

I certainly won't be surprised if Ohio State wins but Tuesdays on ESPN have been surprising of late. I like Michigan in this one.

MSU falls @ Wisky, KU falls @ KSU, ISU falls @ WeVee, MICH falls (badly) @ Iowa and IU, MICH @ tOSU....

The Tuesday night B1G games have been crazy and unpredictable.

1/7 - OSU @ MSU = MSU by 4 in OT
1/14 - WI @ IN = IN by 3
1/14 - PSU @ MI = MI by 13
1/21 - IN @ MSU = MSU by 5
1/21 - PU @ NW = NW by 3
1/28 - MSU @ IA = MSU by 2 in OT
2/4 - OSU @ IA = OSU by 7
2/4 - WI @ IL = WI by 12
2/11 - MI @ OSU = ???

The home team won the first 5 and now the visiting team has won the last 3. Home teams are only 5-3. Also, Michigan has lost 6 times this season. They have come back to win after the first 5 losses by an average margin of 31 points. Many of these wins were against patsies but those are the numbers.

Michigan vs Ohio State is so win-win for us. The worst case scenario is that we end that game with a 17 point win over a team who would be likely headed back towards the top-10. Best case, we gain a game on Michigan and have a road win over a top 20 team again.

I agree.

In how many different threads did you say Ohio State wins easily? I know you called me out multiple times for predicting a Michigan win while guaranteeing a Ohio State win. It's usually best to make predictions rather than make absolute statements of fact.

I knew I had good reason when I announced fOSU as the team to hate this season. They hurt Iowa, twice, in the last week. Well, Iowa hurt Iowa by losing to fOSU, then, fOSU loses control of Stauskus and blows a home chance.

This is now Michigan's regular season championship to lose. I see only 3 possible losses (vs Wisky, vs MSU, vs Minny) but with all of them at home, only MSU is realistic and they probably have no losses. 16-2.

In fact, that's what I'm cheering for. Get MSU a 3rd loss at Mich. Get MSU a 4th loss vs Iowa. Get them a 5th time at OSU. Even if Hawks can win out and both finish with 4 losses, Iowa gets 2nd due to splitting with both Mich and MSU, while MSU got swept by Mich.

Hawks 2nd beats my pre-season (homerish) prediction of 3rd. Not to mention, that kind of late season road win (@ MSU), puts Iowa squarely in low 2 / high 3 seed territory.

I'm rooting for MSU to win if we don't. I would rather play Michigan in the semis of the big 10 tourney. Give Wisconsin or OSU a chance to beat MSU before the championship game.

To be fair, they did win the first 14 minutes very easily.

Windsor, sorry if I came across like I was calling you out, certainly wasn't my intention.

tOSU took a page out of the Iowa/tOSO game. Get ahead by scoring inside (rather easily), scoring on transition, building comfortable 10pt leads and looking for all the world like they would win, easily, b/c they were.

Then, like Iowa, they decided to start lifting 3's, and exactly like Iowa, shoot 3-20, 15%, while MICH shoots 47%. Just like Iowa, tOSU had guys lifting 3s that shouldn't have been (McDonald, Loving) and Ross 9.

tOSU had them, then went away from what was working, and started pressing, and couldn't right the ship.
They have to feel like WTF happened? Just like Iowa felt after the tOSU game.

(did I guarantee a tOSU win?)

If they play in the BTT I will again take tOSU. Just like i will tait Iowa v tSOU in rematch.
The 15% vs 47% 3 pt shooting both regress to Avg and the game is played truer to form.

If MSU gets healthy its still theirs to lose IMO. UM a game back, then the Hawks. That would pit the Hawks and Wolvies in the rubber match at the BTT.

I agree, Iowa finishes either 2-3 creates rematch w MICH. Wisky/OSU then get rematch for right to play MSU, which then sets up a rematch w IOWA in BTT Title game.

Probably the best Iowa can hope for now,#2-3 finish, 14-4, 13-5 and get a MICH team they blew out of gym for right to face fully loaded MSU.
