Maryland, Rutgers to B1G?

Interesting thought--The Big Ten wouldn't be expanding if it didn't think it would increase the amount of TV money that each conference member would receive. If each school can expect to make an extra $1M or more over the course of the next decade, that could potentially negate the financial disincentive of firing Kirk Ferentz.

The guy who runs one of the Maryland boards is saying they expect TV revenues will be in the $40M/year range per school.

I think it is all about viewers and getting money for the BTN network. Maryland brings in the DC area, and Rutgers brings in a small part of the NYC viewing area.

Wonder how this would affect divisions and our coveted rivalry game with Purdue. On the bright side it might mean a larger gap in the years we have to play OSU...Or it could put them in our division. Would be interested in seeing how this would break down.

Would have rather had Mizzou than Maryland when we had the chance, but this will definitely add some serious $$$. Might be worth it just to realign the division and get rid of those idiotic names.

West-
Nebraska
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern
Illinois
Wisconsin
Purdue

East-
Ohio State
Penn State
Rutgers
Maryland
Michigan
Michigan State
Indiana

There's no way the B10 puts Penn St, Michigan and Ohio St in the same division.
