Lunardi: Iowa last in, ISU first out

Sportstalent were you drunk last night? Do you know who Iowa plays in there first three games? I'm slightly positive the other teams roster matters more on how Iowa plays over the, "OH NOOOSSS WIN CURSE". I know everyone has their own opinion, yatta yatta yatta, but can we please refrain from huffing glue before posting? It's not good for your brain or those that have to try to read this incoherent mind scramble.

How the heck is beating 2/3 first B10 games a bad thing? Yes they'd most likley they'd have some come down to earth defeats but if they further began tanking, that would be bad because of just that. Not welp, they shouldn't have started out, 2-1, they were asking for it.

I don't think he is saying they shouldn't start out 2 - 1 in conference. I think what he is trying to say is, if Iowa beats 2/3 of Indiana, Michigan and MSU then people are going start to expect that the rest of the season and so on. If it doesn't continue then shortly after that then the "fire Fran" threads will start. People will be calling him Frantz or Kirk McCaffery or any combination of their names.

It is pretty obvious that a lot of people are already predicting the big dance, can you imagine what people will do if this team actually takes 2/3 of the first 3 conference games and then they fall apart and don't make the tournament, the melt down will be huge.

It is just something to think about. Lets just hope they continue to grow as a team and play well enough to make the tournament, then none of this will matter until next season when the expectations will be throw the roof.

With two young guards and a green (and thin) center, and the physical level of play about to shoot through the roof in the best conference in the nation, there is going to be some tough sledding. I am at the point where I won't be surprised if they are in or out of the tourney...they are bubble team, which is what I felt they would be back in October. If they can go 3-4 in this first seven games or 4-3, then I would move them off the bubble

From the CBS picks, Iowa would play in one of the first four play in games. Would you rather that, or be a high seed in the NIT with two home games?

If they go 3-4 in the first seven, I will be ecstatic. That would be three more wins than I predicted prior to the season.

At this point in the season, ISU shouldn't be mentioned anywhere near the tourney. They've not shown any sort of consistency. While Iowa is the better team, I'm not really sure they should be mentioned either. They've played one the weaker schedules in the country to this point. I guess that's why it doesn't make sense to fill-out a bracket in December.

If they get to a play-in game and lose, is there still time to be invited to the NIT? Or is it one-or-the-other? I have no idea on the schedules of each tourney...

Is this a serious question? You pick the NCAA over the NIT every day and twice on Sundays.

Ask every coach and player in the program this question and the ones that answer "NIT" get rid of them. No worry, there won't be any that say that.

There are dozens of teams like ISU and Iowa out there. They deserve mention as much as those teams. When you get to the tail end of the NCAA worthy teams they aren't going to blow you away and are going to have warts.

I realize that it's not going to happen, but I would absolutely love that draw. Play a BYU team that ISU manhandled first round, then Wyoming 2nd round.

"S-Curve (41-50): 41-Tenn, 42-MEMPHIS, 43-BELMONT, 44-UVa, 45-Marq, 46-Bama, 47-Ucla, 48-FlaSt, 49-Iowa (last in), 50-IowaSt (first out)."

Means nothing really, other than this is probably the first time Iowa has been 'in' in one of Lunardi's bracketology snippets since at least Alford's last year, if not the year before

I can't find this article.....the one I see is still from the 11th....where is it?

3-4 to start conference play would be amazing. we could very easily start 1-7 or 2-6.

Sportstalent wishes we could just play in the CBI, that way we don't have to risk dealing with success in case we win a game or two in either of those tourneys.

You are so right.

Have you ever seen teams win games early that they shouldn't and then fall completely apart?
If you haven't, take a look at Virgina Tech in the last six or seven seasons during ACC play and you know why their coach is working for ESPN.

Oh wait, you probably don't watch anyone but Iowa and Iowa has never done that in their history.

If you believe I don't want Iowa to win then well, sorry for well, you.

Apparently you missed me saying I picked Iowa to start 2-1 and my ultimate fear is that they fall apart instead of continuing to play well, it has nothing to do with me wanting, or not wanting as you think Iowa having success. It has everything to do with what kind of mental makeup this team has that is still very young. If they start of 0-3, it doesn't change my thinking, how with the mentality of this team hold up when they play that winnable game?

I don't know if you have ever watched sports, but if you have do you believe in the mental aspect of sports? It does make a difference in how teams have success or can fail mightily when they have the talent to do well (see: UCLA under Ben Howland).

No I got your point. I just think it's a completely stupid fear you have. Why don't you worry about Iowa losing the first cpl games and losing all confidence and starting 0-5 and never recovering?

Hawkfan33 just wishes we could quit the season now instead of risking some tough loses in conference play that will ruin our confidence.
