Let’s Talk Corso

I don't think they are embarrassing him on purpose, I think the cast is just living thru it, trying to get thru a show.
You would have to be a complete moron not to notice that he can’t talk anymore.

In my opinion, that equals doing it on purpose if you know what’s going to happen.

The Cubs had Ron Santo.
The Cardinals have Mike Shannon.
KCRG had Bob Brooks.
BTN has Matt Millen.
Rock has KISS/Green Day/Queen/Guns n Roses.

The traditional and known are ofttimes difficult to eject. ESPN Game Day is finding this out.

Look

ESPN will finally call out Debbie for playing MW and how wrong it is. Sadly, it’ll be Corso so no one will understand.

Seriously though do you think they talk at all about it or continue to call it “a legal matter in CA”

Okay.

It’s gotten to the point where Corso is just saying random words and not making anything resembling coherent statements, ALL of the other hosts are visibly cringing when he “talks,” and Corso himself constantly has the 1,000 foot stare where he looks around like he doesn’t have a clue where he’s at or what he’s supposed to be doing. He just called Auburn Alabama, and started talking about Tennessee and Herbstreit had to stophim and tell him Notre Dame is the other team. Luckily, Rece Davis cut him off and changed the subject as a coup de gras.

None of what I just wrote is an exaggeration. He’s very clearly in the throes of advancing dementia. At what point do these fucks at ESPN stop parading this guy around like a show pony?

He can’t even finish a sentence or thought. And we all know he’s just trying to read some random stats that a staffer put on paper for him but he can’t even speak English. It’s the absolute most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen.

If you want the fuckin guy on your show let him stay home and cut to a 10 second segment in his living room where he can just put one of his stupid goddamn hats on for the zoo patrons.

All fair points, he still makes more cogent points then Desmond Howard and pollack. ESPN has some legitimate talent on theirs network. I just can’t believe they leave such an iconic show as gameday in the hands of pollack and Desmond.

I’d keep herbstreit obviously and I’d replace Desmond with Marcus Spears and pollack with someone like Greg McElroy.

I'm glad I don't watch much anymore. And usually turn it when he starts in. Please LC, you had a great run. Great ambassador for the sport. Go home and enjoy the time you have left.

I’ve watched the fox high noon show a couple times. Fairly legit show. Lacks the wild on campus environment, but urban and his minions are good. Urban is 1000x more likable on TV than you’d think.

I'm a sports product of the 60s and 70s. With that said, when Jabbar was playing for the Bucks, as a Lakers fan, I *hated* him.

The moment he became a Laker in 75, I was his biggest fan.

Same with UM. Never much liked him as OSU's coach, but now that he's no threat to Iowa, I actually enjoy listening to him.

Maybe they ought to start the show with him wearing the head of the mascot who he thinks will win, and leave it on the whole show (let him take it off on tv breaks). Give him a fake microphone headset and he can babble on, and he'll never know the difference.

Quit using the F word, you fucking asshole

I would think waking up and breathing would do it.

Let him ride off into the sunset. He's on set the first 10 min and the last 10 minutes. Pollack fills in btwn. And hes being doing that every gameday episode.

The two minutes that all home field game day fans wait for are for his two minutes.

I personally love that he still does it. Just my two cents.

Agreed. But when someone says, "Something he can get excited about", at this point, "happy to be alive" is what I am thinking. Then again, like may have said, let him tape it at home, or even in studio, or on set before they start, or just march him out without having him say anything. Hell, just him appearing on stage, all serious and stern, then putting on the mascot head.

As others have said though, he's STILL better than Pollack and Howard. Those guys are awful.

Game Day crew talking about Oregon beating Utah. Corso said something along the lines..."Utah in their bowl game will be playing in the sunshine." Herbstreit..."Utah will be playing in the Alamo Bowl indoors." Corso just turns and looks at Herbstreit with a confused look on his face and says nothing. Very Awkward.

Listen, I commend ESPN for what they have done after an loyal employee has the health issues he has had. Its truly commendable. However, there has to be limit to that empathy and loyalty. It's an embarrassment at this point and it's keeping a deserving sports commentator / analyst from getting a dream job...something they have worked hard to be qualified for.

Listen, the irony is that Corso puts on the mascot head/costume each week, but he's become the mascot of the entire show. It's not doing him any favors.
