Let's really talk NIT, for realsies yo!

Agree with Jack N. Maybe it is representative of how far Iowa hoops has fallen, but I am ready for Thursday night right now. It's hard to not be superstitious with this team, as I felt the same way before the Nebraska game.

Maybe, like the players, I need a pregame ritual that I need to follow if they won the game before (sit on 3rd couch cushion, eat pizza, promise my wife she can watch American Idol after the game, use the dog as a prop when explaining to my wife how the pick and roll works).
Post on Freak's "Official" game thread, and we should win.....

She is riding a three game streak right now, and she does not like to lose.....

:D

I think we have a chance against Wisconsin. We shouldn't be lacking in confidence, almost upsetting them last year at Carver, and beating them at Kohl earlier this year. If we have Bryce back, our chances will be better, but if Mel is On again, we can do it.....

Depends on which team shows up, as many have mentioned. Having an inspired Melsohn would really help. He outplayed Zeller, in my opinion, and was, along with Matt, the catalyst to the victory.....

Seeing Mel play so well makes me feel all the better about next season. If he can play up to his obvious potential from now on, we will be a force to be reckened with, if the incoming recruits measure up. I have a feeling that they will, Big Time.....

:D

Well Duff both Illinois and Northwestern played to your predictions. Iowa is all alone 7th place in the Big Ten.

NW is the real wild card. It's good for Iowa if they win out, its good if they loose out. If they go 2-2 I think we get screwed.

Penn State is awfully tough at home and I cannot see them beating Ohio State. Hopefully Gatens steps up for a huge game on Senior Day.

so if we win out and northwestern loses out we will be 4 games up on them and at least 4 up on Illinois? Is that right?

I honestly don't see us getting into the NIT. The number of auto bids given to regular season conference champs moves us way down the list. They're looking at around 20~ open spots after that. If we do go anywhere, we're looking at CBI.

Sidenote - I've never seen this site before but I thought it was interesting.

If Iowa was to somehow beat Wisconsin tomorrow you will see Iowa show up on that list.

It's weird hoping to go to the NIT.

Yeah it is weird seeing how awful Iowa has been over the past 5 years. The last memory I have of Iowa in a post season tournament was some guy from Northwestern State draining a 3 pointer. That seems like such a long time ago. Then the last 2 years Iowa has lost 20 games each year, amazing turn around.
