Lestikow article on-Rotation

This is just a stupid example. Doesn't mean that it is meaningless.

The whole backstory to this discussion is 56 tried to use Just the PER stat to say player X was better than player Y. You admitted above that you need more than that. I am trolling 56 calling it a junk stat, but at the same time I am serious when I say that PER by itself does NOT tell you one player is better than another like 56 contends it does.

PER in and of itself is fine to look at in conjunction with the other stats. It isn't not an all defining stat that conclusively tell you that play x is better than player y.

You said it's a made up stat over and over and discredited it any time it was brought up

Disagree, I just don't think he's a good PG recruiter. Lots of coaches recruit better at certain positions than others

He has been close with some really good point guard recruits. You can't suck if you are that close to really good players. And just so you know, when you are puttin so much effort into landing your top priority, it means you aren't putting much effort into landing your backup plan. There isn't enough time to do both. So I could get on board with saying maybe he sets unrealistic goals for himself. But I wouldn't change that.

Not really. Apparently he wasn't close with anyone but Bohannon this year and finished 3rd for Ulis.

It is him and he doesn't even hide it. He straight up admits he is trolling you.

Heck I have told him I troll him for a long time now...

I like trolling trolls. I haven't had this much fun since trolling VintageHawkeye. That was awesome watching him just absolutely go ape shit.

The funny thing about Twins is he can't stop engaging me, because he is trolling. So he wants to stir the pot, and I'm here flipping the script on him getting him all agitated, it is fun stuff.

I am trying to get under his skin and will continue to do so as long as he keeps posting and pretending he is a hawk fan. If he would just post under CyTwins I would actually engage him in a meaningful discussion.

Do you think any of the issues Fran has had recently regarding recruitment of the PG position has to do with the fact that his own son is coming next year and currently plays PG? That doesn't mean he will be exclusively a PG at Iowa, but that is what he plays in HS and AAU (up to this point). Any thoughts on that?

Probably not, if you can't overcome your combo guard son coming in than you're probably not a good recruiter

I know you are looking at recruiting web sites that call him a combo guard, but he has played PG his entire career so far. On every team he has played on, he's the PG. Devontae Lane would be a great PG on most teams, but Connor plays the PG position when they plan together. Same with Bohannon. There are people who say he's a shooting guard, but he has always been the PG.

This is different than say Mike Gesell. MG was a PG for his high school team. However, in AAU, he played SG because that team also had Marcus Paige. MG only played PG in AAU when Marcus was out of the game or not playing. That is not true for both Connor and Jordan - they have always played PG at every level.

Players being recruited by Iowa aren't reading web sites. They are actually watching the games and seeing where Connor is playing.

You think players being recruited watch Connor's high school games? Haha

really? Of all the things to moan about with Fran - recruiting is about as far down the list as it can be for me. I don't see how anyone can say he's not a good recruiter when Iowa has finished in the top half of one of the best conferences in the country for 3 straight seasons and he has a chance to do it again this year (though the conference is down this year)

No, they watch his AAU games. Heck, they are at his AAU games.

But, Iowa City West plays some top teams outside of Iowa as well. Here's a HS game Iowa City West just played this past weekend against Webster Groves, MO (who have 2 top 50 recruits).

They played a Chicago team (Marion Catholic) earlier in the season as well.

Oh, and they play Cretin Durham-Hall this weekend - national type team in Minneapolis. So, yeah, players know if they watch the games. You should watch too!

I think Fran's recruiting is his biggest flaw actually

I bet if you asked all the recruits we offered this last year if they saw Connor play they would all say no

Well, since you have no way of proving it, I will say yes. Many of them would have played against Connor at one point or another (like the kid from Webster Groves). They actually do know of other players. Iowa City West has been playing out of state for the last few years - they can't get 5 teams to play them in non-conference.

Plus, all of the other coaches are telling the players - look, Connor is going to Iowa and he is going to play PG. You don't really want to go there.
