Lebron > Jordan?

So Jordan does get his teammates involved huh?

When did I once say that Jordan didn't get his teams involved? I said that Kobe doesn't make his teammates better. Which is true. You have already proven yourself quite ignorant in this thread with your "When has Lebron played the 4?" question. I'd quit while you're behind.

Pippen said this on Mike and Mike today:

"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game. Not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved. You have to be on your Ps and Qs because everybody is a threat to score when he’s on the floor. Not only that, LeBron James will dominate the game on the offensive end and he’s able to do it on the defensive end as well. He can get in those passing lanes and dominate the game.â€￾

The bold might be seen as a shot at MJ from Pippen, IMO....

What do you think?

If I had to pick one of the two, I'd take Jordan. I think the league was better in the 80's and 90's than it is now (better in the 80's than in the 90's). But Lebron has a few more years to go and can move it up another level.

Heck, is Lebron better than Kobe was in his prime?
Hahahahahaha!! Pippen would never have sniffed the hall of fame without Jordan.

Nice try, looks like you agree with Pip.

"Agree with Pip. By the time it is said and done Lebron will be the best all around player ever. Lebron now > Kobe's prime and it's not even close. Kobe has never and will never make his teammmates better. Lebron can control a game without scoring. Only Magic, Lebron, Oscar and Bird have been able to do that."

Where in this statement I made do I say Jordan didn't get his teammates involved. I made a statement that Jordan couldn't completely take over a game without scoring. Lebron is a better rebounder, a better passer and a more versatile defensive player. Lebron guarded Rose who is one of the quickest guards I've ever seen in my life in most clutch situations this series. Do you know what Rose shot with Lebron guarding him in this series?? 6......He shot 6% in this series with Lebron guarding him.

Jordan as of today is the greatest player in NBA history. My point is that by the end of Lebron's career I believe he will be the greatest. The dude is 26 years old right now.

Fair enough, I was saying you agreed with Pippen who basically punk'd Jordan.

First of all, I can't believe Scottie Pippen said that. Second of all, didn't Scottie Pippen go bankrupt?

Finally, I'd say Lebron is better than Jordan when Jordan was at Lebron's stage in his career, but it's very very close. Lebron has so far to go to be compared Jordan it's not even funny. Kobe Bryant is the only player in the NBA that should be compared to Jordan right now and Kobe isn't really that comparable.

When Jordan was at Lebron's stage I'd say Lebron is better at shooting, passing, and rebounding. I'd say defense is a draw. I'd say heart, effort, drive, desire, vertical leap, passion, dedication, attitude all still tilt heavily in Jordan's favor when Jordan was Lebron's age.

If Lebron can maintain the work ethic Jordan demonstrated during his great run then Lebron will make a run at rivaling Jordan.

If not, it won't be close... just like it isn't even close right now. Lebron needs to win at least 3 NBA titles before you can even start the comparison talk.

Lebron hasn't even won a title yet.

Not even close.

If you want to talk about "all around player," Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson were better "all around players" than Jordan, but were they better? No way.

I can say that Steve Young was a better all around QB than Joe Montana, but if I tried to say he is a better QB, you would need to have me committed.

It's too early to have this discussion. It isn't fair to Jordan or James. James still has another decade of basketball to play.

The talk of the "at this time in their career" made me curious.

Through the first 8 seasons
MJ
31.34 pts, 6.01 reb, 5.65 ast, 2.64 steals, 1.07 blocks, .514 FG%, 2 championships

Lebron
27.7 pts, 7.1 reb, 7.0 ast, 1.7 steals, 0.8 blocks, .479 FG%, maybe 1 this year

But Lebron secured his spot as never being the greatest ever last year when he made "the decision" and told everyone that he needed help. Its not like Jordan and Pippen as Batman and Robin, he said he needed another Batman (Wade) and a Robin (Bosh)

Hands down the dumbest argument on the planet.

Give me a break. Whether he left to combine with those 2 or those 2 coming to Cleveland it's the same thing. That is such a stupid argument. So Jordan should be penalized for Rodman, Harper, Kukoc and all of the other great players he played with coming to Chicago? Ridiculous.

Rodman, Harper and Kukoc are not Wade and Bosh. Not even close. How old was Harper when he came to the Bulls anyway? And Rodman?
They were not in their prime when they played for the Bulls.

Lebron left Cleveland in his prime to go play with Wade and Bosh who are also in their prime. This would be equivalent to Jordan leaving Chicago after a few years to go play with Olajuwon and Reggie Miller...two olympians.

Jordan is the greatest because he won regardless of who the bulls had on their team. Pippen was a mainstay but they went through a lot of different players during that championship run.

Lebron is not a better athlete than was MJ. MJ made alot of players around him better, including Pippen. He is also one of the best defenders of all time. I would go so far as to say that MJ was more competitive. And by the way, the nba is not better now compared to when MJ played. Jordan>Lebron!

Jordan didn't transfrom the Bulls, the Bulls management team transformed the Bulls around him.

Jordan made that team what it was. They won how many championships with how many different players?? The Bulls management transformed the Bulls when they drafted Jordan, but other than that, they could put anyone around him and they won.

Yeah as long as Jordan had an All-NBA caliber SF who was also 1st team all defense and a terrific rebounding power forward he won. It also helps when you have the best 6th man in the NBA coming off the bench.

LeBron's best teammate was Mo Williams, he made one all star game. BJ Armstrong was at best the fourth best player on Jordan's first title teams and he made one all star game.

So I guess we'll never know if Jordan could have a won a title in his prime with a bad supporting cast around him, the Bulls management did a great job of building that team.
