Latest Podcast (Iowa's Revenue Ranking)

Hey look everyone! Gary just showed us how 3 Top 25 finishes in the last 12 seasons is actually a good thing. You know, cuz Kentucky and Minnesota did worse. o_O

I'd say a lot of those schools with that many losing seasons did much worse.

Hey look TK just told us how it's better to have 5 losing seasons at ole miss because they had 4 top 25's to Iowa's 3. o_O

Good point about recent improvements in recruiting. If the arguement is we should be better because of the money, then it looks like a good rebuttal to say we seem to be getting better because of the money.
Funny how that works huh??

I was kind of hoping you would assign me an alias by now, Gary. I'm starting to think you don't like me.

So I think Barta is a dolt, and should have been fired long ago. I just don’t find “director cup” points to be one of the reasons to fire Gary. You got MSU just above Iowa in these stupid director cup points and they have had a top notch football and basketball program, and let’s face it those are the ones that fund every other sport and are honestly the only two that matter.

PChawk,

How old are you?

Money rules this world. With the money we bring in there is no reason that we are not in the top twenty year in and year out in recruiting in either basketball or football because we have the MONEY to be there.

Deace hit the bullseye. A top twenty-five program three times in football since when???? Boom!!! That was Deace dropping the mike and walking away.

The facts are the facts. The only defense I could accept for the coaches is if the powers that be just don’t want to put out the money needed to truly give the coaches the staff and money needed to recruit at the level needed to be more successful and competitive.

If they didn't have restrictions how how much recruiting you can do, I would be more apt to believe that money affects recruiting. Do any power 5 schools really ever say "I would like to go recruit this kid, but we really can't afford it"? In my opinion, the only thing money can help is having nicer facilities. Which we now have, and have seen better recruiting ever since.

Can people on here list some ways having more money helps win? I've got coaches saleries and facilities. Are there any others?

Better recruiting, more money to spend on promoting your school, more recruiters to send out pursuing top recruits, cheaper ticket prices so younger and more energetic fans can attend games and intimidate refs and get the players adrenaline going (home court advantage).
