look at michigan after Carr, or Nebraka after Solich. Fortunately they are relavant nationally to be able to rebound after bad coaching hires.
Iowa can not afford to go after the next "hot-thing" in coaching.
Iowa has proven over the last 30 years that pro/ballanced style offense is successful here.
Our fan base is spoiled. every year wee are rarely blown out, and rarely underdogs in games. in fact, on paper we were underdogs three times in 12 games this year (probably favored in the bowl game too). as a fan isnt that what you want? for our team to compete? Thats what i want, competitive play. We will never be able to "show up & win" we have to compete every saturday, and thats what keeps me coming back, personally I expected 8 wins this year and could still get there.
some fans are not realists. I'm not a homer, but we will be favorites in 9 games again next year. be prepared to be happy with 8/9 wins next year (before bowl). that's where i would place it. oddsmakers will have an overunder on iowa at 8 or 7.5, if everyone returns (reiff etc) i would say we get 8 for sure maybe 9 with the swing game being the nebraska game.
I mean we will start 4-1 at the very least with 5 virtual home games to start the year, if not 5-0! that means 8 wins very likely next year.
