Kinnick Stadium Seating

Quick question. Coming out for the PSU game. In the process of securing tickets and I've been told that there isn't a bad seat in the house. Any feedback from you fans would be appreciated. Thanks.

30 rows up and as close to the 50 yard line as you can afford. I've never been a fan of watching from the end zones, since I'm used to the side angle from TV. West side of the stadium tix are usually a bit more expensive, and you'll get shade from the press box depending on time of kickoff. Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but Joe knew.

Thanks, man. Are you hearing anything about potential start times yet. It seems the TV people are not offering any info. Oh, and that other thing, I think someone may have mentioned it previously.

No official start time but hear a lot of people predicting a night game. I prefer the side view. End zone seats the depth perception messes me up. But that's for any stadium. But closest to the field and 50 as you can afford is a good rule. Sat in row 76 last year on the 50 for the MI game. Wasn't bad. My ST seats are 30 rows up on the 5. Love these. Really the only bad seat I had was around 10 years ago was in the south end zone right below the speaker. My head was ringing the whole ride home. Hope you have fun. Love taking road trips.

I have 2-4 tickets 1st row side line of endzone. 150 each. Probably get on tv every time iowa scores......:) message me if interested.

Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated.

FYI, as you look at row numbers, 79 is the top of East and West stands... 42 is where the entry tunnel comes out.
This is good info to know or to be reminded of -- especially if taking someone 65+ years. Stay in rows 30s-40s.

There are good comments here about seating. I don't know about endzones but sideline views have been great.

Tunnels into stadium are narrow. Closer it gets to game time it gets jammed big time.

How Penn State fans support a guy that covered up pedophilia for 13 years (possibly almost 30 years according to some reports). Never Forget.

An important consideration as well is where you'll park. Or park and ride. There are options....but trying to get close to Kinnick can be daunting, even for us old-timers. It's rather disjointed up and around the stadium if you don't know the area.

You can park at the Finkbine golf course and walk the mile to Kinnick. Exit 242 off I-80 and follow signs. Also called Hayden Fry Way.

You can park at the performance hall called "Hancher" and either walk (about a mile+) or ride the free Cambus which drops you off three blocks from stadium. Starts two hours prior. Hancher is a mile or so off of I-80, exit 244. Follow the cars.

You can park at the Coralville iHop and ride the train directly to Kinnick, $12 ea/round trip...drops you off and picks you up right next to Kinnick. You can bring booze on, etc. I do this a lot. Leaves three hours before kickoff, and, runs up to 90 minutes after the game is over. Free parking at iHop. You'd want to take exit 240 off of I-80, runs south pretty much right into the area. Follow cars.

I haven't ever done the taxi or Uber or Lyft in Iowa City, so don't know if you could get a ride quickly after the game. Usually takes well over an hour for the post-game Kinnick crowd to dissipate.

You're gonna need to walk a significant distance to catch an Uber or Lyft. They're not going to drive into that traffic. Best bet is to stroll toward downtown.

Parking-
Personally I like driving by the stadium, seeing the madness, then grabbing a front yard parking spot in the middle of everything.
Coming in from PA, more reason to be in the middle of everything and get the whole experience. I have done the Hawkeye Express(our train from Coralville), and it is clean, but I think you miss part of the tailgating atmosphere since you are in and out so clean.
Kinnick doesn't have a "parking lot" like other stadiums, so people sell parking in their front yards and makes for a very non-commercial feel. If you go to 6 games a year at Kinnick, you look for easy flowing, in and out. If you have never been there, and spend all that time and money, experience it.
