I surrendered and stopped watching. Is that a red flag?
Fans don't play the game. Even you'd agree with me that a player or players quitting on their team in a conference game is not good
It's not like they made the executive decision to quit. All you have to do is get a little slower by only giving 90% effort. It happens at the end of every blowout. The thing that was abnormal is Northwestern still giving 100%. The reason you don't see a team go on a 16-0 run when they're winning by 15 late is because they normally check out too. Northwestern gave 100% until the very end. Or at least close to it. Iowa players did the same as most teams do when the game is out of reach.
There's a difference between losing your mind and questioning how you got so bad you couldn't even make the NIT
I wouldn't say we are bad. I'd say we are wildly inconsistent. We have been so good that we beat a very strong Purdue team. We have been so bad that we were humiliated at Northwestern.
Why couldn't we replace Uthoff's production by committee? Also I was told many time's that Sapp, Woody and Mike's production wouldn't be hard to replace. Without Jok by your theory we will probably be lucky to win 10 games next year
Offensively we did. We are currently averaging 81 points per game. Last year's team averaged 78 points per game. It's the defensive end where we suffer. Losing four starters who were used to playing together and were at least average defensively was very hard to replace.
We average 4 more turnovers per game, and give up 9 more points per game. IF we can keep our defensive intensity, we can do quite well. It all starts with Jok. He's our senior leader, and he needs to demonstrate defensive intensity. When he shows even a little bit the other players feed on that and we play better defense as a team. If he plays matador defense, so does everyone else.
I think it's pretty concerning if you don't give 100% in a conference game. Either they are losing confidence or aren't mentally tough.
It would be concerning if it wasn't the same as every other team in the history of sports.
It's funny I kept saying we would miss Mike and others the most on the defensive end and got mocked. I think a lot of people even said CW would be a better PG defender because of his length
Every team in the history of sports have quit during a conference game or gave up?
Read your post I quoted.
Everyone knew we would miss them defensivly. They just told you offense would help make up for it. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Put last year's Uthoff on this year's team and we would be better than last year. We would be a couple points worse on defense and 10 points better on offense.
You told me CW would be an upgrade defensively over Mike because of his length.
We surrendered? They pulled their starters and we left ours in
I think most teams are giving 100% all the time and they just have times when they play bad. I can't think of another team this year besides us that just flat out gave up in a game
Most teams give 100% every game all game? Watch any 20 point game with 2 minutes left and tell me both teams are always still giving 100%.
I see you are admitting we gave up now. Does that mean I changed your mind or you knew the whole time and acted like you didn't?
