John Raymon is not Transferring yet

Again, wouldn't be a surprise. Iowa has a very, very very, slim record with retaining big D line recruits.

The attrition list is remarkable with some not making it through their first summer.

Raymon would just be another on a long, long list.
Care to share that "long, long, long" list?

Sure, some transfer...

but some also turn out to be quite good. Not sure Iowa has a "slim record" with retaining big D line recruits. The two big d-line recruits I remember transferring were the Big Human, Richard Kittrell, and Ryan Bain. And both of those guys certainly made it through their first summer. Kittrell was around for 2-3 years at least, had injury issues. Bain played as a true freshman and then transferred.

Off the top of my head Clayborn, Ballard, Matt Roth, Kenny Iwebema, Bryan Mattison were all highly regarded recruits. Kroul and King were certainly very good, although not as many stars coming out of high school. Derrick Robinson pretty highly recruited out of Minneapolis and had a nice career at Iowa.

at least he has taken down his comment about transferring - but he changed his profile picture from that of him in an iowa jersey to a h.s. fb picture.

We just sent 3 starting DL to the NFL with at least 1 more draftee on the roster currently.. If someone in Raymons position plans to transfer there must be a really good reason or its just not a good fit because the writing for talented d-linement at Iowa is on the wall-- stay 4 years and start at some point and you're almost assured a shot at an NFL roster. There are 3 starters positions open for next year so playing time can't be an issue... if it is he's not looking/thinking ahead.

He should really think about the fact that going to Iowa as a O or D lineman increases your chances of getting into the NFL like trifolds. He has a chance to be set for life with hard work during a couple yrs of "adjustment". Risk vs reward. I hope he really thinks about it but wish him well in his decision.

Believe it or not, there are other schools that place players into the NFL if that's his motivation.

Did you not know about the article at the end of last year that stated - paraphrase "If a player goes to USC, Ohio St or Iowa, they more than double their chances of making it to the NFL".

My point is that KF knows how to develop lineman & Iowa is in the top 3 of putting quality game-ready offensive & defensive lineman in the NFL. Where have you been the last 5 yrs? Do you not understand what's going on here?

Agreed, but whatever - if the he has this much quit in him I have a hard time believing that he would be successful over the long haul anyways.

More than that…he put in the time to change his picture, so that is indicative of something, bad feelings, who knows what, but that is pretty peculiar.

More than that, I'd say visiting the facebook pages of people you don't personally know is creepy. Guess it's an age thing (I'm 49). That, and I don't use my time to "visit" people on facebook I don't know. I find that site slow and unwieldy. I leave that site to the chicks. They need to vent, us guys can just go out and drink, smoke cigars, fa^t, scream, chop trees, etc. Plus I can scream at ESPN or revel in BTN.

i don't have him or any of the team as 'friends'. his profile just happens to be 100% public, so easy to see. no different in going to that website as it is this one, imo.

i agree that having 'friends' you don't even know is strange, especially when you are putting communication up.

i've of the opinion that facebook/twitter is simply massive time waste. but in this case, it is simply digging out information about a player who may or may not be on the team in short order.

I'll second that. I've been on that site about two times altogether.
