Jeff Horner Responds

No I'm not it's stupid talk to think Iowa and ND were going to brawl at the end of that game. I watched the ending and seen it many many times through other networks. It wasn't happening.. You had many Iowa players about to shake hands at the end with the ND/ Coaches that were all lined up but were told to leave the court. If Fran feared that something was about to boil over he would of stayed on the court until all his players exited..

I actually think Fran was more concerned with his potential behavior or how he might have reacted if face-to-face. I agree that I don't think the players would have had a problem.

#13 from cincy is a punk. He kicks Freese in the head when falls down. Can't stand punks like that. I've always liked Jeff Hoerner, but he is in denial about his teams actions. There is a difference in 'playing hard' to the end and being chippy and trash talking. Neither one describes 'playing hard'............

Agree as this seems to be a trend with them. Players will play like the coach acts. Horner is probably fine. Not sure about that Brian Jones, though.

Didn't Johnny Orr and Bruce Pearl get into it a few years ago during the handshake or was it after that that it happened?

I agree as well. In fact, Bohannon reacted just fine IMO.

With pandemonium breaking out around him, Jordan Bohannon sought out North Dakota’s Quinton Hooker. Bohannon felt he needed to approach his foe once the game ended about the technical foul.

“It was unintentional,” Bohannon said. “I went and apologized to him after.”

Upon the buzzer, Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery threw his arms in the air and walked off the court without taking part in the customary postgame handshake. He motioned for his team to follow him.

“Were you at the game?” McCaffery said when asked about what he didn’t like with the end of the game. “Well, then you should know what I didn’t like.”

One Hawkeye handled what became an awkward and tense moment at the end of Iowa’s 84-73 victory on Tuesday about as well as one would hope. The other likely wishes he could change a thing or two that he did.

McCaffery could probably take a cue from his 19-year-old freshman point guard on how to respond while dealing with a tough situation.

“Those things happen,” Bohannon said. “Got to get over it.”

I agree 100% with you on that..

Yea, so it might not have been a bad decision by Fran to head out. The only thing is that he directed his team to the locker room so he might have been concerned about his players. Don't know. They looked more baffled than mad, though, so would have been fine. Maybe Fran noticed statements of frustration from his players at the end. Who knows.

Other teams fans talk shitick about Fran and his spicyness or temper, but I like it. I don't mind making the paper or media with what happen the other night. It shows all that this team has a pulse, IMO.

I think Bruce Pearl had a way of getting under a lot of people's skin. Whatever happened to him anyway?? Don't make me Google it.

Wilbon is a punk. He hates Iowa because of what we did to his Northwestern teams. In the words of Zach McCabe he can go suck a fat one.

Anyone denying Fran doesn't have issues is in denial. Not sure if it's just anger issues or unresolved other issues.

Most on here loved how Horner played. Now we get to see it in reversed. Imagine if McCabe gets into coaching. I've coached HS ball before and didn't shake a couple of times. Looking back, though I KNEW I was right, it wasn't the best thing to do. I should have swallowed hard and done it.

I'm not shaking Josh Brown's Hand....:)

I feel bad for Bobby the next time he has to face Fran

I watched Jok play in high school once and Horner started yelling at the team during a timeout. He sounded like a fake idiot. Not sure how that pertains to this, but good story.

All he did was not show respect to a team who wasn't respecting him. When people say to be the bigger man, isn't it more about not fighting them or saying shit to them? I don't think you should be the bigger man and show respect to someone who disrespects you. If someone calls your wife a whore, you be the bigger man by not punching him, not by shaking his hand with a smile.

BINGO! ^^^

Teaching your players to play to the end is great when there's something
to play for at the end. The ND kid's actions were totally bush league and
Fran did the right thing given the other crap ND players pulled earlier.

Horner is mush mouthing it. He'll always rank high on my list of Hawkeye
greats but he's dancing faster than Gregory Hines on this deal. He should
just have apologized and let it ride.

Yeah, cause that never happens.

LMAO.. I was pretty clear in stating in the College Basketball hand shake line and I've seen Just 1 SUCH example.. So not quite sure what ur responding to and posting this video, but this doesn't fit the criteria of Hand Shake Line. Nice attempt.
