James Morris not drafted

James ended up in a great spot...I will actually be surprised if he doesn't catch on in New England...he's a Belichek player...maybe not the most physically talented...but any time he steps on the field...he is going to be one of the most intelligent players...and he's going to give you 100% out there regardless.

James is the type of kid though that doesn't really need the NFL...he's going to be successful whatever he's doing.

And he's not going to be able to get off blocks and overrun plays and not be able to recover.

Jerimiah George got drafted because he was black.

I realize that there is some inside joke going on here that is above my two digit IQ.......All i know is that dude is absolutely shredded, do not know his skill level, but man he looks the part.

Tarp was just as smart and probably more skilled and he was able to squeeze 2 years and a couple of starts out of it. You think Morris can do the same?

Based on the opinions on here about how bad James Morris was at Iowa I'm not looking forward to what we will have this year. After all, they couldn't beat out James Morris. Who's the projected starter this year and do you think he'll be better.

He was pretty good as a senior but Id probably put him last on a list of Iowas middle linebackers under Ferentz.

I'd put him above Klinkenborg, and I don't remember anyone before Fred Barr. Morris' career isn't one of the top ones, but to act like he was terrible is ridiculous. I'd gladly take him back for another year.

Alston and I doubt there will be a drop off.

Yes, Morris was terrible. Thank God he's finally gone.

So he got the right read on the play I linked? He did that for 4 years. Terrible instincts. Teams picked on him and killed us because of it. I realize from reading the board over the years that you know nothing about football, (or writing or any other sports) but come on, you seriously can't think he was good. Stop drinking it.

Linebackers weren't the strength of last year's defense. They were dead weight all along.

Was Morris perfect? No. But he made a lot of good plays for us, last year especially. To pretend he was nothing but garbage is ridiculous. But you seem intent on trolling, so carry on.

Plus, the ever dreaded, short arms. I only watched about 90 total seconds of draft coverage, but when I did, they were talking about arm length (which is why I stopped watching). However, out of curiosity, I looked up the method for measuring arm length in the NFL, then had a measurement of my own arms. My 32" arms are longer than James', and I am 3" shorter.

I never noticed before, but Morris did kind of look like a T-Rex running around out there...

I lift. Morris lifts. Guys who lift have barn door lats and those huge lats can skew arm measurements. It ain't that the arms are short, it's that when you add 6 inches of lat, your arms look shorter.

Just intent on teaching you something about football, but you seem to stubborn or stupid to figure it out, so I'll stop and let you believe what you want to believe. He wasn't complete garbage. He was very good when asked to drop into coverage, but he got bad reads on runs and was too slow to make up for it, which is the opposite of what you want in a 4-3 Mike.

I'm not arguing that he should have been drafted, nor am I arguing that he made the proper read on the play you highlighted. But overall, he was a plus player last year. The guy was 2nd team all-conference on both the coaches' and media teams, as well as Athlon and Phil Steele. But I suppose the media were all stupid like me and know nothing about football, and the coaches just wanted to thank Morris for all those big plays he let happen.

If you're going to be a d*ck and call someone stupid, you might want to ensure that you're using the correct form of a word. Just sayin'.

Not going to get in this urination match....Imo, Morris struggled at the point of attack through out the majority of his career, not sure if it was a strength issue or a technique issue. All I know is the second half of last year the light bulb came on and he played some really great football. Can he parlay that moving forward? I really do not have a clue.

Crap we saw for four years and you know the pro scouts saw when they broke down film on him

Crap huh? Nice. People are awfully tough and brilliant behind anonymous screen names. He wasn't the GOAT, but he was hardly crap. Again, more belittling of people who give their all so that you can be entertained.

Belittling would be saying something that's not true. We saw a lot of crap like I showed on the clip I presented. What we're getting from others is a bunch of generalities that they can't back up because they know nothing about football. Guys like you and Tork come on here and rip into people that differ from your opinion, even when they back it up with proof, and you guys respond with, "you're wrong, because we write stuff for a living". Learn something about the game and maybe you'll add something to this site.

I never ripped into you, nor did I ever bring up my chosen career path as evidence that I know what I'm talking about (neither did Jon, for that matter). The only one ripping into anyone in this thread is you.

Also. #LEARNTHEGAME

I would guess that you could pull film on any player and show mistakes they made in their career. Morris was a great Hawkeye and a respected LB in the Big 10. That's not my opinion, this is the opinion of people who know the game much better than most of us here.

Why all the shots at KF on Twitter the past couple seasons then?

He has invested more into the program for your entertainment than anybody but is somehow fair game?
