Naw Eppy is as sure a done deal as there is. He's a Hawk. The thing his old man can and I'm sure already has is relay to him that when he first got to Iowa that the program wasn't in very good shape then either. And he was a part of building it back up and how rewarding that that may have been. I'm not saying that's a great or even good thing when just a year ago they were where they were but it could possibly be an angle to where he doesn't see the glass half empty way of looking at things....
I'm not buying the done deal thing. I could be wrong but unless Iowa does something miraculous I think he'll get much more attractive offers elsewhere from much more stable programs. It'd be naive to think that other coaches aren't going to jump all over this year's shit show of a season. We would do the same thing to other schools' recruits.
I think when it comes time to sign his name logic and reason are going to win out and I hope he makes the best choice for his future, not what his father (who is wooed by KF and staff) wants. Dad is getting his second 15 minutes of fame so of course he's going to have Hawkeye-colored glasses on. For those of you who have bought into AJ's Twitter feed just remember that Benjamin and and Calloway were both "all about the Hawks" too until the shit hit the fan and reality set in.
As far as being able to play earlier here...hmmmmm...
Develop for a year under Saban/Harbaugh/Meyer's coaching staff, or let Phil Parker send you on an unwinnable kamikaze mission as a freshman? I think I know which one I'd opt for. Epenesa would face the same problem Desmond has this year. He's the only legit threat on a bush league defense so he's getting shut down because teams can afford to. Most of the best players in the NFL weren't four year starters. The argument that playing earlier is by itself somehow going to improve his chances going pro is crazy.
