Its official, NBA>MLB

MLB's advantage is they provide the largest outdoor bar in many cities. I'll watch parts of maybe 20 or so Sox games on TV a year and go to maybe a total of 5 Cubs and Sox games, but there is just too much content provided. But around where I live, I have never seen kids playing baseball despite a ton of fields. The kids all play basketball, soccer and lacrosse. Long term, baseball is in big trouble. Heck, I even think Big Ten football is in big trouble because folks in the north are getting smarter about the potential long term negative side effects from football and are pushing their kids into other sports, but folks in lower baseline IQ states (e.g., the South, Texas and Oklahoma) have no such fears.

Damn Yankees!

Are you trolling again OK4P? my kids play pickup games of football, baseball, soccer and basketball. It changes throughout the year what they are playing. Right now it seems like football and soccer are hot. In the summer is was baseball and basketball.

Of course the team sports are still big in all four.

Not trolling, totally serial, brah. I've never seen a single baseball game in my burb or the surrounding burbs. I see some African American high schoolers practicing a little football by running routes and stuff on occasion, but never any games. But there are hundreds of kids playing soccer in the fall and spring all over the place. When you go a little west into different demographic neighborhoods, everyone plays basketball, but around me it is either soccer or lacrosse. I know a ton of parents who won't let their kids play football even if they are big.

Someone just asked my 8 year old daughter to play lacrosse. I am the bad dad that let me son play tackle football. Its good for him.

Well, seeing as how Northwestern or Duke will cost $100k/year in 10 years, you might as well get the young lady playing now to get that scholly money.

She's on the travel soccer team. We are working that angle, she is a year younger than she needs to be on the team. We will be pushing her toward Stanford with Cal as the second option. Dook is too far away and too close to those weirdos in the Charlotte suburbs.

Dude, my buddy got married to a D-1 soccer player and I was at the wedding. DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTER GROW UP TO BE THAT. Lacrosse will help with the old money schools out east and by virtue of playing lacrosse, perhaps she will meet a young fraternity man who also plays lacrosse who will one day work for a consulting firm or a bulge bracket investment bank.

Another buddy has a daughter who was a top tier soccer player and she is now on scholly at an elite school, but even with a ton of positive check marks in her corner, she got dinged from Stanford and even UCLA for a soccer scholly. There is so much less competition for lacrosse and as more money gets thrown into football programs, schools will have no choice but to start offering women's lacrosse due to Title IX.

This just in. NBA TV is awesome. ITS 100X better than MLB or NFL channel. There are games on every night, and quality also. Last night I causlght the Lakers and Blazers for about a quarter. It was FANtastic.

Also David Stern is probably the best commish of any sports league in history. What hes done for the NBA is amazing.

Ghost made some good points about the WS competing with football, and that is true. When the WS was playing I watched none of it since football was on. The only playoff baseball I watched was when the Cardinals was on, only because I wanted to see them lose. But if you put a big market team in the World Series like the Dodgers or Yankees and the ratings would be much better. I think baseball is hurting itself by adding more playoff teams and keeping a 162 game schedule. They either need to scale back the playoffs so the best teams have a better chance of playing in the WS or scale back the regular season. Baseball needs to be ending in September, not going into late October.

But the NBA does have more action, especially for kids. My 8 year old son is all about sports, he enjoys playing baseball and going to baseball games but he cannot sit through it although he will stop what he is doing to watch if Soriano is batting. Basketball and Football he has no problems with, a lot more action and even my other kids who are not sports nuts will watch a little. Baseball is just to slow for the new generation of kids that are used to everything fast paced.
