ISU getting another transfer. ex USC PG Maurice Jones

So Clyburn is suppose to be better than White and Jones is better than Luscious. Clyburn and Jones played for 2 of the worst teams from the worst BCS conference. Cute.

I just don't think you can throw stones at ISU taking "questionable" transfers when Iowa takes in someone like Hubbard, regardless of why he left.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

what a crappy take. if you don't see how dumb that sentence is, you are this guy

The fact that he was academically ineligible doesn't bother me, I think he's "questionable" because he's 5'7 and shot 33% for possibly the worst power conference team ever last year.
I am with you there. I am not real excited about Jones. He is hopefully just insurance for next year when we will have two FR PGs that may or may not be ready.

It isn't about taking a chance on ONE kid, as every program does that. It is that ISU has taken what 7 or 8 of them......big difference.
That is true, but there is also certainly a difference in what any of ISU's transfers did and what Hubbard did. Plus, only about 3 have been transfers with any sort of trouble.

None of Hoiberg's transfers has had a whit of trouble since transferring, so I am perfectly fine with it. And, it's not like we aren't getting quality HS player, too.

Hoiberg has definitely created a place for transfers to go to. Long term I don't think it works. He's been fortunate so far, but transfers aren't usually leaving because they're happy, and they carry that gene with them.

The best part of it is they got no other place to go. It's a built in incentive to not mess up. Plus, they have to prove themselves for a year while they sit out. If they mess up, they get the boot.

But I hear you... it could certainly backfire. I know that Freddy puts a lot of time into researching the kids, and won't take someone if he isn't comfortable.

Grams used to say the proof is in the pudding. If it works out for ISU then more power to them. If it doesn't then they wet the bed and will have lie in it. Time will be the judge.

The pudding was mighty tasty last year!

I'm not especially excited about the kid. I agree that his shooting percentages are just downright scary. It appears to me though that Hoiberg isn't overly concerned with that for his PG's though - look at Lucious. I think he just wants the fastest guy possible.

To a certain extent, the transfer culture in college bball is similar to college football switching to the no huddle, west coast offense. Some teams will change, adapt to the new culture, while others won't and will be left in the dust.

Teams still need to recruit freshman, which Fred is, but bringing in experienced juco transfers is the perfect blend; assuming you do your reasearch and stay away from "me" players.

Teams like UNI are pretty decent every 4 years. Why? Because their starting 5 is mostly seniors, all having played together for 4 years and they create the perfect mix. However, in division 1 CBB, having a decent team once every 4 years is NOT enough. We want winners and we want them now!

Who was that?

John Lamb - It was really handled brillantly br Fred, an almost Calipari-esque handling of the situation.

Lamb, a former transfer to the men's basketball team from Morehead State, was released from the squad in March, shortly after the Cyclones' season had reached its end.
ISU athletics spokesman Mike Green confirmed Lamb's release Tuesday morning, saying it was not publicized becuase of Lamb's status as a transfer student.

Judging by that article it appears he was already off of the basketball team when the arrest happened? Off of the team in March, arrested in May. Just fact-checking your tirade.

LOL yes it just didn't happen to be announced until after he was arrested, that's pretty convienent. But like I said, I thought it was a great move Fred pulled off.

You're quite the ISU fan, aren't you C.unt?
