Is this the swiftest and biggest fall from grace in Iowa sports hisotry?

It's got to be "yes".

Pierce was a big fall from grace, but did he ever have DJK's level of fan affection?

yesterday, that pic of DJK on senior day would have almost brought me to tears.

today it did bring me to tears to see him wearing an iowa jersey

don't drop the soap

Roy Marble was drafted in the NBA and got into trouble while playing for the Celtics, that's not such a stain as this is. Ronnie Harmon had one bad game, and yes he fell hard, but I don't think it's close to what this is.

1. Show me a football team that doesnt have a player who hasnt smoked pot in the last year and I will show you where Jimmy Hoffa is buried.

2. Yes DJK F'ed up big time, But I am proud of him for being honest and not lying and being truthful. I dont care who you are, if you cant respect that then your a p@U@S@S@Y. He could have said Hey man I am never here I dont know what goes on, or its not mine.

3. With the amount that they found in his bedroom I highly doubt he does any serious time in jail, maybe 6 months. PP had a much worse crime, drugs are all over its just that cops in big cities really dont have time to screw with small fishes.

Ronnie Harmon and Pierre Pierce both came to my mind; I remember interviewing Harmon after games in which he emerged from the dressing room blinged out and wondering WTH was going on with him.

But in terms of swiftest, biggest fall from the pedestal to a metal cot in jail, yeah, gotta be DJK.

As far as crimes - PP sexually assaulted a woman...TWICE. No comparison. As far as the bigger fall, I woudl say DJK because the effort he gave on the field surpassed anyone on the team this year and the fans appreciated that. Add in the lunatic sect from Orange County IA who want to tar and feather a guy for possesing a small amount of pot, admitting to cocaine use and having some pain pills and you have a bigger fall from grace. He's charged with MISDEMEANORS (albeit serious and aggravated, but still misdemeanors)! Not saying he's still a role model to your kids but lighten up people.

DJK was as dynamic of a player on offense as we've seen maybe since Dallas Clarke, but DJK's legacy has been destroyed by his own making.
I hope the best for him, he gets himself straightened out and can make amends, and play ball somewhere.
But listen, Iowa has a football game in 20 days to get ready for. Lets concentrate on the players that are still actually on the team.

Unfortunately the way this season has gone thus far, I'd say there will be more defections in the off season...Big ones!
Kirk needs to sit down with every single player before the bowl game and figure out who's not happy, and find a way to satisfy the mal-contents.
Otherwise there will be a couple bad years coming.

I dont think we will see any defections, but KF needs to find some fire and put it into the players.

Just came back to this thread for the first time since last night, and had posted Roy Marble in a separate thread...its in the neighborhood I think, but DJK situation is still in its own classification I think

I agree the, the big difference in my mind is where they were when it happened. Marble was a Celtic when he ran afould of the NBA substance abuse policy. DJK was a Hawkeye, preparing for the final game of his career.

And yet, one would hope you can find a football team that doesn't have a player using cocaine and abusing prescriptions drugs.

Not to mention the $3k in cash that was found, or the "drug house" charge.

joey slaton and montell marion both national runner ups with bright futures for iowa wrestling team...one can't keep his grades up and other owi + multiple other accounts ranks on my list of recent fails
