Iowa v Illannoy is an NIT play in game

that's fine you think Iowa needs two to go NIT, but not thinking a NW win and NCAA bid helps Iowa is just silly.

We can disagree and that is fine, but I just don't see Iowa in the NIT if they go 1-1 in BTT with their OOC results. If Iowa wins two, it won't matter what NW does.
Also, if Iowa goes 2-1 that puts them at 18-16 and a guarantee of a winning record, that is bigger to me than anything else.

I hate this.....but.
I predict:
Iowa loss
NW win
NW to NCAA
Illinois to NIT
Hope I am wrong. Again

but it does. the NIT has limited space for at large bids. NW going dancing opens up one more spot for Iowa.

Hate to say it but we want NW to win regardless of how many wins we have in the BTT. Duff is right. With NW in the NCAA Tourney it helps us out for the NIT. Whether we are 1-1 or 2-1 in the BTT.

If the Hawks find a way to win the first two, I'm not thinking about the NIT at all...I'm hoping for a 3rd win over Wisky, a trip to the B1G title game and NCAA bubble watching.

The NIT will take as few B1G teams as possible. They usually take 1 from teh big conferences and mostly mid majors. They won't be taking 3 B1G teams like you suggested earlier. NW making the dance helps Iowa's odds of getting an NIT bid, not sure how you can think it wouldn't. If it comes down to Iowa v. NW for an NIT bid, it aint going to Iowa.

These arguments may just be taken care of by Illinois on Thursday...keep in mind that it is a terrible matchup for Iowa no matter how Illinois has played.

In the end, I want the bubble to burst for a lot of Power Six teams, it just happens that NW is one of them. Iowa is going to have difficult time getting into the NIT no matter who they are stacked against...if the OOC was better then I would feel much differently.

Iowa cannot go 1-1 in the BTT and make the NIT, even if NW wins...sorry that is just how I see it, losing to NW cost them at this point, they would have been two games over .500 and a chance to go three games over with a win over Illinois...

No kidding, you've said it 18 times. A lot of us have countered with what we think, or "how we see it" and you have just dismissed us assuming you are right. Open your mind just a bit.

Minnesota is not getting in over Iowa, no way. So beat NW won't hurt/help.

There's room for both NW and Iowa in the NIT.

so if Iowa goes 1 and 1, and NW beats MN, who goes to the NIT from bten? Illannoy? No one?

No, not Illinois. They'd be 17-15 if they lost to Iowa and 6-13 in conf. 2-8 L10.
MN would be 18-14 and 6-13 in conf. 3-7 in L10. No, not Minnesota.

No one.

Depends on the other NIT spots, though, too. Conf champs/ tourney champs, etc..

If NW loses and Iowa wins 2, both will get into the NIT

has the b10 ever failed to get one team in the NIT? I realize there is a first time for everything, but I cant believe it will come in a year in which the bten is the consensus toughest conference in America. as crazy as it sounds, a win coupled with a MN loss makes Iowa the first bten team OUT of the NCAA

Spank, why do you think Iowa needs to win 2 if Duff's senario plays out and we go 1-1 and NW goes to the dance? One more win is going to matter to the NIT whether they take a B1G team or not? I gotta side with the NIT guru on this one.

There is no rule that says the NIT has to take anyone from any conference outside of regular season champs of the mid majors. Iowa has an RPI in the 130s and a win over Illinois would not move it much. Iowa has been passed over in the past for teams with a worse conference record, 2006/07 season. That year Iowa played Michigan once and beat them at Michigan, finished 4th in the Big Ten at 9-7, and got passed over for Michigan. I think if Minnesota beats Northwestern they are a lock for the NIT. Then if NW fails to get into the NCAA then they are the 2nd team in the NIT. I think both Iowa and Illinois has to win 2 in the BTT to get into the NIT.

I would have, had you manned up and put your 20 large in an escrow.

I don't believe that needs to be part of a bet. If I lose, I pay. If you lose, you pay. If I don't pay, you get the mob to kill me.

I thought that's how it worked.
