Iowa needs 3

I hope that they get in with two wins but what if it takes winning three? most are thinking NW, Mich St and Ohio St. but what happens if the third win ends up being Nebraska or Purdue?

I hate to bust your bubble but the hawks have not beat a team this year while they were ranked. Every Iowa win this year has come to a team that was not currently in the top 25.

Can anyone else support this point.

Oh so THIS is why Iowa does not deserve to be in the tournament. Here all along I thought it was because the RPI rank was to high or the weak non conference SOS.

Thanks for clearing that up for us.

yes it is one of many factors that the committee could use to keep them out.

Your attempt at sarcasm was cute like a child spitting up on itself…now go play with something shiny!

Shinny - An informal form of ice hockey played esp. by children, on the street or on ice, often with a ball or other object in place of a puck.

Why do you want kelley to play this game? It seems irrelevant.

If Iowa makes the championship game there will definitely be no reason to sweat selection Sunday. If we win it we will probably be in line for an 8 or 9 seed. If that's the case, that game would be the easiest loss for me to handle in the history of watching Hawkeye sports.

There is no evidence to support what you are claiming. The committee can use what ever ranks they want and are encouraged by the NCAA to do so but all we know for a fact is they get handed a sheet that lists RPI ranks and RPI records of each team and according to the RPI ranks Iowa has beat 4 teams ranked in the top 50, Minnesota was "ranked" 15th when Iowa beat them.

Thank you! Did you see my shiny bubble?

Are you doing your best Klondike impression? :)

I said it in another thread. I put Iowa as a 6 seed (no lower than 7) if we win it...by beating MSU, Ohio State and Indiana. That's an Elite 8 run in the NCAA while winning a play-in game (NW) and then beating 3 top 3 NCAA seeds all in the course of 4 days.

That would be one of the toughest Elite 8 runs you could find in the tourney.

I'd think it matters more how a team finishes than how they were when you played. Virginia Tech looked pretty good back in November.

Somehow I don't think the committee is going to look at that loss as anything less that appalling.

My take at the beginning of the year was that they needed 23 wins with their schedule to make the dance. The Nebby and PU away losses made it necessary to add another win in the BTT to get there.

That being said, the key is the second round match. Without winning that game it shouldn't matter anyhow.
