Iowa needs 3

wrong. its the RPI keeping us out, and losing that game didnt affect our RPI much.
Our real time RPI is 72, so beating Northweatern would barely move that RPI, winning two games won't even help either, three wins nope, 4 games in BTT Yes we'll get in.

Beating RPI 9 MSU won't help Iowa's RPI? Beating RPI 14 Ohio State won't help either? Get a clue.

I think they will need to win 4, and Herky will need to put on an impressive ol' school trampoline dunk show at halftime.

It's not for the fans or coaches or university to decide whether we get in the tournament ,It's for the committe to decides who get in the tournament.I have nothing to do with that. Believe me , i would love to have Hawks to be in NCAA.I also think they can win all 4 games in BTT. I think Fran has been holding back some of the players.Theyre gonna do things in BTT like shooting threes or gabe getting his triple doubles like herby always say
.

I don't think anybody is disputing that. The issue, IMHO, is that Iowa will finish alone in 6th, have beaten (handily) two teams that finished below them, and those teams will make the Dance while Iowa will have to settle for the NIT. THAT is my problem with it. Yes, we scheduled a weak noncon schedule and blew some late game/big leads. But we still finished alone in 6th. Ahead of two teams generally considered to be in the Dance. THAT's what bothers me.

Just my $.02 .. ..

GO HAWKS!!!

Can't argue with any of that.

LMAO. One or two games, maybe. No way they win 4. Good thing one or two might be enough.

You thinking he's going to pull Meyer's redshirt and start him? Bold move.

Same here, but I still think 2 wins only gets them in the conversation. That loss to Nebraska hurt worse than the losses to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Purdue.

The loss to Nebraksa did hurt, but in and of itself it's not what is keeping Iowa out at this time. It's the lack of big-time wins (Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa State are our big wins, all at home). It's too bad as the Iowa schedule consisted of a lot of games against really good RPI teams (Indiana, Michigan, MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota) and a lot of games against poor teams. Without a lot of games against teams like ourself (think Iowa State, who is ranked very similarly in the Pomeroy and Sagarink rankings).

I would say the losses to Wisconsin and Minnesota hurt more, b/c of the RPI boost we would have received and it would have provided the elusive road win against a good team that the committee loves. Many teams have road losses to teams of Nebraska's quality or worse (KU lost to TCU, Missouri has lost to some bad SEC teams on the road, etc.) They make up for them with some wins over good road teams.

Did you really just compare Iowa's resume to the resume of Kansas?

Crazier things happen this time of year.

Speaking of this, did anybody else catch the ESPN documentary on the run Georgia made in the SEC tournament in 2008 or 2009? I cant remember the year for sure but that is when a tornado ripped through downtown Atlanta during a tourney game and forced them to move it offsite to GA Tech's campus because of the damage the twister did to the Georgia Dome.

Georgia, who was the worst team in the SEC that year, ended up winning 4 games in 3 days to win the tournament. Very well done piece by ESPN.

I disagree, they are already in the conversation and I think a win over MSU gets them in. But we can debate this all day, that is why there is so many threads discussing this very topic.

We really have to beat MSU if for no other reason than to settle this ongoing HN argument. It's what has to happen.

No Dodger compared the Kansas loss at TCU to the Iowa loss at Nebraska. Our loss at Nebraska is actually much better than the Kansas loss at TCU. Let's use the RPI that so many people love so much...not me. TCU has an RPI of 229 and Nebraska has an RPI of 104.
